I've been listening to original vinyl Beatles record for a while now, and these are my thoughts:
>The stereo mixes are absolute ASS! You gotta listen to their pre Abbey Road shit in mono, there's no other way. Stereo kills The Beatles.
>Their pre Help! material is overrated as a motherfuck with the exception of (some) singles. Their pop stuff is of no interest to me, but their rockier stuff is good.
>Abbey Road was never that album. A big part of the LP is vibe music without hooks, and the record has a lot of filler in it.
>Having said all of this, their material from Help! up to The White Album is stellar.
Are The Beatles the most overrated band in the history of music, /mu/?

I actually listened to The Red Album before making the thread. Original 1st pressing greek vinyl, mixes were still ass. For me, I think it's The Beatles in Mono or nothing, as I feel those are the best sounding Beatles records by far.

I don't think you can take anything away from The Beatles. They are objectively the best band in history. Influence, to albums, to cultural impact, to singles, there just isn't anyone better. Nirvana is the most overrated band.

A 5/5 record (Nevermind), a good 3.5/5 record (Bleach), and an amazing 4/5 last album of experimental noise rock plus tons of amazing singles, EPs and live albums don't make them overrated at all.
