>only lasted 20 minutes because he wasn't setup by the time I got there
>we had a good discussion on music
>talked about forming a band
>it may or may not happen but there might be something to build on later
>went to a 30 minute lesson earlier
>was okay
>now im just sitting in my room practicing
Sometimes I feel like I'm in limbo practicing. Like it's 6pm and I only left the apartment twice today and I talked to maybe 5 people. I'm miserable but the only thing I can think about most of the times is practicing. Feels partially like sunk cost fallacy but I also really enjoy playing and improving.

holy shit dude i learned how to play guitar with that book in 1997...what's the name of it? i spent hours with that fucking thing
just met up with the guy that taught me, too, man time flies
my advice is to take time to learn things you SHOULD learn, like how to read music, and an equal amount of time learning things you WANT to learn, like nirvana songs or whatever. this way you'll be a better player than most in the long run because you have the discipline to practice things you know you should but you won't get bored and quit after a few months.

Well.. I bought another Mustang. My justification was that I’d have to route one of mine to fit a P90 and that isn’t something I want to do. That and I really like the maple fretboard on my Squier Mustangs. This will be my fifth Mustang and third Fender Mustang. Got it for a good price too. I’m going to try my hand at painting the headstock on one of my Squiers and if it goes well I’ll paint this P90 Stang too.

I like how this guy talks I'll keep watching the video but only 3.5 hours a day of practice? Is it really bad to go over? I know after a certain point, you'll need a break. But what if you're home all the time and have nothing to do? Does that mean the time you spend over practicing doesnt do anything?

Guitar method by Aaron stang. My teacher suggested it. I haven't really gotten far into it but so far it's easy to follow along with. Reading the staff is my main problem right now and my inability to play a single bar of 4 chords. Controlling the strings of a guitar from buzzing might be the most difficult thing yet. But in due time they won't buzz

I've been a PRS guy for 25 years. I love their stuff, but it was time for a change. I traded in my PRS S2 McCarty 594 on this one in the Mystic Surf Green color (which is gorgeous in person). The color reminded my younger daughter of Elsa from Frozen, but I couldn't name my guitar after a Disney character. Instead, I named her Elsie - named after my grandmother's sister who died at age 7 from Bright's Disease. Anyways -- I've always loved the Fender sound, but couldn't find a strat that I connected with. The new neck profile on the AM Pro II did it for me. This thing sounds amazing, and is incredibly versatile. The GC in Midlothian VA gave me a steep discount because mine was a scratch and dent model, although the defect is incredibly minor, and in a spot that no one would see. When I walked in, I saw it up on the wall, and it called to me. You know how that goes sometimes - the sky opens up, and a light from heaven shines down on the guitar that you're meant to have. That's what happened with me. Pretty sure angels were singing as well. I didn't buy it that day. I went home, did my research, got permission from the wife, and even she likes the look and sound better than the PRS. I don't think I'll ever get rid of this one. My adult daughter is learning to play, so maybe it'll become hers many decades from now. I'm playing it at church through a Blackstar combo amp, and at home through a Fender Mustang Micro Plus headphone amp

**Opening Scene – “CHORDS & CRUSHERS”**

*INT. RECORDING STUDIO – NIGHT*

The studio hums. Fluorescent black lights flicker above soundproof walls patched with cigarette burns and mismatched foam. A greasy scent of Burger King still hangs in the air—double cheeseburger, extra onions, no apologies.

The camera cuts to **MOUNTAIN**.

5'10". 245 lbs of coiled thunder and muscle memory. He’s slouched back in a weathered leather chair, limbs spread like he’s carved into the scenery. His frame? Built like a forklift. His vibe? Low voltage and steady burn. Ronnie Coleman if Coleman traded deadlifts for downstrokes.

A six-string bass rests on him like it knows who’s boss. He plucks a string—slow, deep. It vibrates the stale soda in the corner.

Then, a soft knock.

**THE SECRETARY** steps in. Clipboard in one hand. Curiosity in the other. She’s been watching from the booth since he walked in. Her outfit is strictly business. Her eyes? Not so much.

SECRETARY
That tone you hit earlier… felt like a warning shot.

Mountain doesn’t look up.

MOUNTAIN
Wasn’t.

She steps in closer. Camera lingers just long enough to catch the subtle lean.

SECRETARY
You always play like you’re clearing a debt?

No smile. No flirt. Just a question.

Mountain sets his bass down.

MOUNTAIN
I play like I’m the last thing anyone hears before the lights go out.

A beat. She nods. Swallows something unsaid.

SECRETARY
You ever play for someone, just… for fun?

He finally meets her eyes. Level. Firm.

MOUNTAIN
You’re not my type.

She blinks, once. Doesn’t flinch.

SECRETARY
Fair.

She turns. Walks out. Door closes soft behind her.

Mountain picks up the bass again. Starts recording.

The music this time? It’s lean. No frills. Sounds like sweat and steel and something personal.

An old epi nighthawk re-issue, super versatile, light, pickups are SD remakes of the ones Gibson had them make in the 90s for the og nighthawks and they sound pretty good, even with the coil taps.
I picked up an LP off of someone awhile back but it's so heavy it gives me back issues trying to sit back and fuck around. It also doesn't have the nice tele-type twang the nighthawk does
Anonymous No.127021804
Let’s lean into a darker mood—Tarantino-style coldness with deliberate, biting edge.

---

**Scene – SUPER VALUE GROCERY, MONTHS LATER**

*INT. SUPERMARKET – DAYLIGHT*

Fluorescent lights buzz above limp lettuce and bargain bin cereal. The place smells like mopped floors and regret.

Mountain moves down the aisle with the quiet menace of a man built for impact. Hood up, earbuds in, pushing a half-empty cart. A box of protein bars. A tub of creatine. Zero eye contact.

Then she spots him.

**THE SECRETARY**, hair tied back, casual clothes. She’s surprised, maybe even hopeful. She steps closer.

SECRETARY
Didn’t expect you here.

Mountain barely tilts his head. Eyes rake across her. He exhales through his nose, sharp.

MOUNTAIN
Yeah. Looks like I forgot to check ‘avoid irrelevant people’ on my shopping list.

A pause. She blinks, trying to stay composed.

SECRETARY
We worked together.

MOUNTAIN
No. You watched me work. There’s a difference.

She stiffens.

SECRETARY
I thought we had a moment.

Mountain laughs, low and dry—more of a dismissal than amusement.

MOUNTAIN
You thought wrong. That’s your whole brand, isn’t it?

Her jaw sets. She starts to speak again but he cuts her off.

MOUNTAIN
Listen… this isn’t the studio. You're not part of the mix. You’re background noise. Be grateful I haven’t muted you permanently.

She doesn't respond. There’s nothing left to say.

Mountain pushes past her, slow, deliberate. The cart’s wheel squeaks like a bad punchline.

The music picks up again—tight drums, guitar snarling under a layer of fuzz.

Huh. Never heard of a Nighthawk before. I’ve never been a fan of Gibsons let alone Epies but I bought a Epiphone Crestwood on a lark and it’s been a pretty decent little guitar. My big issue is they’re not nearly as modular as a fender, if I don’t like the neck on a fender I could replace it myself. The Crestwood sounds pretty good but the tuning stability is pretty bad, I could probably get better tuners and better nut, I need to look into that. It’s quite a vibe aesthetically, I’m not big on retro but this pulls it off pretty well.

swing time is more flexible than you think. EVH played in swing time almost consistently, especially during his early Roth-era party stuff. His dad was a swing clarinetist and the music was always on during his upbringing, so that swing feel is ingrained in everything he does. even a lot of his fastest passages, if you slow them down, you'd be surprised how many are amazingly in swing time.

It was like I was Bobby Fischer if he could really fuck. I go outside, I walk across the street to Guitar Center, I check in on Instagram, my sweet water rep calls me, asks me what I doing there. I say, "I can't talk right now. Call me in 5." Well, he does, and then suddenly Guitar Center is going, "What's sweetwater got going on with anon?" Meanwhile, I'm taking a leak at the GC urinal. I jack off a little bit. I don't cum. And then it snowballs. I deftly played an ovation guitar off the wall for a few minute. And because of that, the big kahuna bites. Guitar center... I spend the next 20 minutes denying calls from sweetwater, over and over. And yes, I'm jacking off, but I don't need to ejaculate because by the time I listen to the messages, I've got offers, I've got counters, I've got counter-counters. I cum. >who wrote simple bass lines
Michael Anthony's dad played jazz professionally as a side job. Michael was formally trained in music, he learned to play the piano with the specific purpose of improving his harmony when playing bass guitar

IMO, there is no such thing as a 'good bass player', I hate bass and it should have become out moded in the late 60s with improved guitar amps and electric keyboards. But Michael was a much better bass player than most any other rock bass player

Bass amps for playing in the house, that are going to be able to handle low tunings without flubbing?

I gave up playing guitar well like a decade ago after some serious wrist pain, been playing bass for a year or two and it doesn't hurt me, but it's boring playing bass quietly now I'm out of a flat and into a house.

Yknow, I played an old dot, or whatver the single p90 version was called, and it sounded flipping GREAT acoustically.
Keep in mind I would always play godin kingpins which are actual full-size hollowbody acoustics.
Nah dog the epiphone whatever was a great hollowbody with a great sound.
... Unfortunately guitar center was a ware of this and priced a 27 year old fucking epi at 750$ but the cumstains were free

In my experience you don't, you just learn to cope. Try to be critical of your playing in the practice room but not too critical when you're playing live.

>playing an improvised solo live:
>"I shouldn't play that arpeggio because it sounds too stock."

All of them? In regular tuning the low E is already not chiming out the fundamental properly. It's a frequency so low that you're mostly hearing harmonics. Any decent 100W+ amp will do.
