the first two phases (Court-Islands and Larks-Red) were still consistent within themselves and among eachother
the 80s new-age sound, however, was very far out of their usual approach. I don't dismiss it though, Beat is weak, but I listen to the other albums quite often

There is avocado under my naked feet
The skin is soft and warm
Gives off the taste of meat
A sussysloot sashays into sight to be engaged
Involuntary celibates are impotent in silent rage

The poors hoard what leaks they seize
"Cope, dilate, and seethe"
Each clip and image are free if you lurk moar
There's no hiding behind paywalls
Just a manwhore to adore

The paypigs pore the floor in the porous fleshy corridor
On my second sight of simples, far more thirsty than before
They're heading in heat to a writhing, fetid crack
Where the coinslot's eye is winking, closing on their backs
The 'Cado Coomers feed their Boomer:
>We've got to get him to get off
>We've got to get him to get off
>We've got to get him to get off

There's only One Direction in the music that I hear
It's coming from the ceiling, where the fans are drawing near
Like a concert fight for stage sight, that takes place with every stan
They are pulled up by their oshi, believing in the plan
The 'Cado Coomers feed their Boomer:
>We've got to get him to get off
>We've got to get him to get off
>We've got to get him to get off

Mild-mannered mukbangers are force-fed through the night
And the based and boipilled evaders post with their bodies glowing bright
'Tween the cheeks a chungus feast is splayed across the sky
In the chasm lies a cavern that quivers with delight
The 'Cado Coomers feed their Boomer:
>We've got to get him to get off
>We've got to get him to get off
>We've got to get him to get off

The polyethylene powerchair with failing frame fears collapse
And the only fans pay per their view, they charge back all they lack
The liquid has congealed, which has seeped out through the crack
And now Niko's got his boyfriend back :)
The 'Cado Coomers feed their Boomer:
>We've got to get him to get off
>We've got to get him to get off
>We've got to get him to get off

Listen, dumbass. If you like a few albums of a band, it should be the obvious next step to listen to all of their albums. This is somehow lost amongst retard tourists. Yes, most (95%) of the rest of their albums are good. But how would you know unless you listen to them, retard? Listen to them, dumbass.

Fripp was just autistic or schizophrenic. Bro literally thought the world was going to end in 1981 and split up the band. Sacrificed what would have been an epic lineup with Ian MacDonald rejoining. Instead, we get that 80s slop, so yeah. There's that.

Damn. He is a great frontman. SAGA had I think the last show on Cruise to the Edge this year. Regardless of what day it was, it didn't start until midnight or something. The crowd was tired and a lot of them didn't seem like they knew the music of SAGA at all. Despite playing to one of the most uninterested crowds I ever saw, he still acted like he was playing a stadium full of die hard fans. Big respect right there.

is just having unusual form enough to make a rock song prog?
>Form: Progressive rock songs either avoid common popular music song structures of verse-chorus-bridge, or blur the formal distinctions by extending sections or inserting musical interludes, often with exaggerated dynamics to heighten contrast between sections. Classical forms are often inserted or substituted, sometimes yielding entire suites, building on the traditional medleys of earlier rock bands. Progressive rock songs also often have extended instrumental passages, marrying the classical solo tradition with the improvisational traditions of jazz and psychedelic rock. All of these tend to add length to progressive rock songs, which may last longer than twenty minutes.

Canterbury actually has a distinct sound. Rock Progressivo Italiano (formerly Italian Symphonic Prog) on the other hand should not exist. Apart from its lyrics, there is nowhere near enough to distinguish it from the rest of the world.

Many Italian bands do share a similar sound. But it's not enough for it's own genre. Plenty of non-Canterbury (even non-English) bands have made Canterbury albums, because it is a real genre. If RPI was an actual genre, then there would be at least one non-Italian band that has made an RPI album. But there isn't because it's a meme genre. I will give PA props for finding a couple symphonic Italian bands that they don't classify as RPI, but there should be more if it wasn't a meme genre.

The dancer slows her frantic pace
In pain and desperation
Her aching limbs and downcast face
Aglow with perspiration
Stiff as wire, her lungs on fire
With just the briefest pause
The flooding through her memory
The echoes of old applause.
She limps across the floor
And closes her bedroom door...
The writer stare with glassy eyes
Defies the empty page
His beard is white, his face is lined
And streaked with tears of rage
Thirty years ago, how the words would flow
With passion and precision
But now his mind is dark and dulled
By sickness and indecision
And he stares out the kitchen door
Where the sun will rise no more
Some are born to move the world
To live their fantasies
But most of us just dream about
The things we'd like to be
Sadder still to watch it die
Than never to have known it
For you, the blind who once could see
The bell tolls for thee
The bell tolls for

Neither edgy nor nerdy. But also, prog in general is nerdy. It's fine.

I think Neilโ€™s lyrics got better in the 80s when he stopped trying to write literal short stories and started expressing his autistic musings in more abstract and poetic terms. Entre Nous and Afterimage are other great examples.

nobody said it wasn't
but it's pompous as fuck even for Magma standards
semi-related but it's probably the closest Magma's came to sounding like regular symphonic prog rather than zeuhl too

It's funny because Pink Floyd isn't necessarily known for being the most sophisticated band rhythmically but I think Have a Cigar has one of the finest flows I've heard in any song ever, it's perfectly swingy and laid back and it sounds wonderful

Name a better debut. They had to start somewhere. Discipline is no where near ITCOCK. inb4 people think I suck off ITCOCK. Personally, I do like Lizard, but the Wetton era is peak Crimson.

Discipline sucks. Having that album near Lizard, Islands, Larks, Starless, and Red is ridiculous. ITCOCK is far better and it's not even a contest.

Jazz rock's largely defined by that late 60s sound you see in a lot of proto-prog, prog adjacent, early prog and canterbury bands
