Blast beats are a technical style of drumming even if it just sounds simple there are multiple types of blasts, gravity blasts and so on that are pretty technical and take finesse to do right, and it's usually associated with more brutal stuff.
Without the brutal DM aspects to do techdeath will involve more Jazz fusion influence and then you start crossing into "what's the difference between techdeath and progdeath" territory like Cynic.

If you mean that it gets the aggression/energy out yeah but for me BDM isn't relaxing. The best way to enjoy it is when you're full of energy, you're active listening and maybe even playing along on guitar. Full immersion. Good DM should have some groove and catchiness to get you moving.
