How do you play this chord without using your thumb to mute the top two strings?
TFW you realize you have a 26 gallon air compressor and have been wasting money on computer duster to keep your instruments and gear dust free. This is my smoke free rack, the other one holds the guitars that have been seasoned and lightly cleaned once moving out of very smoky environments. Iโve gotten increasingly anal about dust and itโs kinda funny to have a handful of truly grisled and grody guitars that I just canโt part with.
I've never bonded with any Gibson or HB guitar. Even when I want to desperately. The creative juices only flow with shitty single coils and possibly lots of noise.
>>127045255Uh, just pick those? Is this a trick question?
>>127045257what's the best way to keep smoke gunk off your guitars?
Which fuzz is best fuzz?
Fuzz face? Tone bender? Muff? Op amp muff? Hyper fuzz? Some other octave fuzz? Rat? Binary counter fuzz?
>>127045255if muting just don't play them
looks like they are fretting them with their thumb here
>>127045275A lot of guitarists seem to just strum all of the strings with the ones they don't want muted. But I also thought using your thumb was bad for some reason
>>127045282Fuzz face is kind of the standard fuzz to me. I know the Muff is called a fuzz, but it's kind of its own thing to me. Neither distortion or fuzz. Still cool.
>>127045298Using your thumb isn't bad. It's just sort of electric guitar specific.
>>127045257>smoke free rack>dusting your guitarsPlaying maid instead of guitar, anything but practice eh?
Wiping premium tone right off your guitar, sad.
>>127045298on guitar the strings you don't mute will ring out anyway even if you don't touch them due to resonance, so muting is very necessary, and yes this happens on acoustic too
>>127045343If I do mute, I don't consciously think about it enough to call it a mute. My technique is just that good.
>>127045343this doesn't apply to electric guitar unless you are playing extremely loud.
>>127045249chord it out sister you rock
>>127045358if you're fucking deaf maybe

So the PRC still has dead frets. I don't think a $150 Squier would give me this much trouble. Oh well. More glue! More beatings! I'll make a guitar out of it yet
>>127045402buy a noise gate, the sympathetic ringing shouldn't be able to overcome the gate.

>>127045282Muff, or any muff clone with wacky options and knobs.
>>127045257Compressed air can fuck up your finish. It comes out super cold and you can shock the finish into crazing, like taking it outside in deep winter and then bringing it inside.
muff doesn't get disgusting enough, more of a distortion pedal than a fuzz.
Fuzz is supposed to square the wave.

>>127045426it gives you that much trouble BECAUSE it's a $150 squier

>>127045522lol, those thick poly finishes won't crack with a blowtorch
poly > nitro
30 seconds and a damp rag and my guitar looks like the day it was built. Nitro rubs off with water lmfao
>>127045429'noise' gates are fucking hacks. they're for getting harsher chugs and overcoming inclement conditions in venues as a last resort.
the sympathetic ringing of unmuted strings is quite literally the #1 problem with pretty much any guitarist that doesn't sound good and half of the ones that do. even if you did have a noise gate so what you wanker the sympathetic ringing makes the note you intended to play sound like shit. thats why it doesn't sound as good when you play it but someone else can take the same guitar and it sounds tight, rich, full.
muting should be like, the first fucking thing anyone learns. lesson 1 of 1000, play this scale while muting all the other strings.
>>127045572>Nitro rubs off with water lmfaoThat'd be cool if it was true.
>>127045575sounds exactly the same samir.
I'm not even sure the Muff was originally a fuzz. The original was the same pedal Gilmour used for that Comfortably Numb solo...which most would think is just a nice overdrive. it got nastier over later designs.
>>127045562It's about the time it takes to cool down or heat up. Compressed air will 'freeze' the finish in a very small place very quick.
>>127045572i want my guitar to age with me just like everything else i own
>>127045279Donโt smoke around it for one. Itโs pretty hard honestly, I tried keeping them in a hard case in the basement which was the least smokey area and it still wound up coated in light tar. I guess you could try wiping them down monthly.
>>127045522I hold the cans a good distance away, the mechanical compressor shouldnโt hurt it though as long as itโs not freezing in my garage. I have a really slick wand with a regulator knob to adjust the flow.
>>127045282The Muff with tone wicker is my go to. Itโs louder and has a wider tone range than the others Iโve had or tried
>>127045673hard pressed to recommend spending money on a superfluous tool but i really like the electric air dusters. same air speed but you don't have to listen to the compressor kick on every 30 seconds

>>127045426My fender style and lp kits are solid players. The semi hollow kit might be beyond reproach. The hollow probably needs a full refinish, bridge and nut adjustments, full fret leveling and filing, route access to the electronics from the back so they can be reworked without losing my mind. All and all it's shit considering that kit is more expensive and there are tons of sellers putting out $200-250 guitars right now. That was my first kit and my skills were more rugged, but everything about it is worse than it should be.

>>127047068It gets to a point here it becomes one thing. Try playing scales and doubling the notes with your voice. Singing while playing rhythm is hard at first. Try playing along to a recording while looking at the chord chart and singing along while playing the guitar.
>>127047068it's like trying to coordinate another limb

>>127047068drummers have to learn it with 4 limbs.
you learn to kinda put a limb on autopilot so the rest can do off-beat hits. It just takes time.
If you can practice your guitar parts enough that you don't have to think about them as much you can focus on the singing.
Think about acoustic cover fags, every song ends up being the same strumming pattern so they don't have to think about it and they can just change chords and sing

On the other hand I think itโs cool when guys use basic off the shelf production models of their signature guitars. Yngwie uses basic versions of his signature Strats and Troy Van Leeuwen uses basic production versions of his (Mexican made) Jazzmasters. I think itโs cool when someone gets a signature model and then uses it, not the special custom shop version of it or the original model it was based off of but used the common production model that the average joe would buy if they were wanting one.

>>127049290It's not vol swell but kind of sounds like it, like they barely move their hands but every note comes out strong and clear and there's this pulsing quality to it like the guitar is singing, using more gain gets it a bit close but it's alsways been said that these artists barely use any gain

worth it
>>127049345If it's Jeff Beck, try the following
1. Use your fingers not your pick
2. Use harmonics and rise to the target note with your vibrato bar
3. Play loud - might be the feedback from the amp that you're hearing as that blooming quality

he's a nobody in the real music bizness
then he starts interviewing a bunch of real artists
is he part of the tribe?

rhett? more like mr. steal ya bitch. licks so tasty she drip

do i get the blue or green ones for my pink shred machine

green will get drowned by stage light

Changing strings and oiling the fretboard are both a meme. Your natural oils keep them both in top condition as long as you play regularly

>>127050760Thais adopted a lot of surfy guitar for that old Vietnam era pop they had. So they got pretty good. There was a lot of American influence there like Japan...but they didn't go wild with rock like Japan did.

>>127050760Chinks are retarded bugs
>>127051258You can remove it with oxalic acid cleaner, baking soda as well but I donโt think that works as well.
>>127051630it'd just rust again since the chrome plating is already shot, you'd need acrylic spray or something to coat it
>>127050911A Mustang with P90s would be cool but my Fano is basically already that. A P90 Mustang with the same switching as a regular Mustang with out of phase would be cool. Iโd want to put together a humbucker Mustang if I didnโt already have my Super Sonic. Iโm thinking about hardtailing my Japanese one so I can have one with a stable vibrato and one just simple
only a gibson is bad enough

>>127051828Not that the price of fragrances matters too much, but the Iommi perfume is almost 3 times more expensive than the one you posted lulz. For me i'm not a big perfume head, I just bought it to support Tony Iommi and his cancer battle.
>>127051730Why not make the hard tail MIJ your humbucker with hotrail/JB Jr? Iโve played a few HH Mustangs with various stock and aftermarket full sized humbuckers and itโs too muddy sounding. If youโre looking to play anything remotely clean the hotrail seems to be the perfect happy medium.
>>127045257>TFW you realize you have a 26 gallon air compressor and have been wasting money on computer duster to keep your instruments and gear dust free.Dont use compressed air to clean dust off guitars!!!
Amazon sells brushes specially for dust removal of guitars

i'm not funding a shitty boomer bender
>>127048970they could make it even better by getting rid of the normal channel (which no one ever uses anyway) and in its place adding a midrange control to the EQ and a switch to take the amp down to 5 watts or 1 watt

>>127052378Yeah, I was expecting them to be anemic on my MG73 and was prepared to swap at least the bridge for a hotrail but I like the combined sound too much to replace it.
Would you laugh at me for playing a Squier? Be honest.
I should start recording my riffs. I'll write stuff out then forget the tempo overnight

>>127052595Arrogant AND deliberately obtuse? *swoons*
>>127052452No, just set it up and upgrade it where needed. Manicure the frets, make sure the action and nut are good and youโll have a decent, playable guitar. The Sonic series blows away the Affinity guitars I played as a kid back in the day.
>>127045933>If nitro is as magical as its hyped to bepeople use it because its thin and wears off easily, so it attracts all the posers who are into relic'ed guitars
it requires a lot of coats to put on properly so as to not wear off
>>127045111 (OP)A Tribute would be nice. Something about its rustic looks, though idk if a maple neck works for a gibson.
