>>127052449The pickups on the MG65 have special “vintage” voiced pickups from the factory. They sound great, the bridge pickup especially sounds really great. The pickups on the vintage one sound great too but it’s the neck pickup on it that takes the cake over the two pickups. I don’t want to mess with the original pickups but it’d be cool to mix the vintage neck with the CIJ bridge and get the best of both worlds in it.
I’m going to need to do some tweaking with the wiring at some point because one of the sliders is wired in reverse. When the sliders are in the same direction they’re out of phase and when they’re in different directions they’re in phase and it should be the other way around. I don’t know if it was a factory mistake (I doubt it) but the soldering joints and wires are very old so if it was swapped around accidentally it was a long time ago. If I’m having to rewire that it would be the time to replace pickups if I’m going to do that, again I’d hate messing with replacing original pickups but Lollar makes some great sets of Mustang pickups that everyone recommends so idk

Got some radius gauges from china. I'm sure they're mislabeled because the 12" has much more curve than the 7.25". I don't want to have to check them all manually.

>>127053436You can check them with a compass and a ruler, or a pencil and a string and a ruler. It would take all of 45 seconds to draw a couple radius circles and check the gauges against that. Anyway, that sucks balls, Anon. I like tools and having something not be precise would be a total bummer.

>>127054115Some of the Paranormals are pretty decent. I have one of the first batch of Toronados and it feels really nice, but the pickup selector is starting to go and needs a fresh solder or maybe replacement. The pickups have a nice sound but are on the quiet side, I might pay someone to swap them for WRHBs and go through all the wiring to make sure it’s tip top. I have too many other projects active at the moment to tackle it myself, I’ve been operating on my MG100DFX and that has felt like open heart surgery to a laymen like myself. A local shop got one of these 1980s MIJ Teles with two Seymour Duncan HBs and a locking vibrato, the same model guitar Frank Black used in with Pixies and I’m tempted because I’ve loved that band for 20 years and I’ve seen photos and videos of him playing this guitar a million times but it’s $1200 (yikes) and has some honest wear to it considering it’s 40 years old.
>>127055203If you don't buy it, a tranny will, you don't want crusty semen getting on a guitar you love do you? (Also MiJ stuff is going to the moon now, old orville's cost as much as new LPs).
Also what wear? it looks decent, I have a MiJ that's only 15 years old and it was pretty beat up, far more than yours looks.

>>127057736Nah the 94 is the basically the same size firing a cartridge twice as long and considerably more pressure than the 92s original .44-40. 92s are super strong and great rifles too but the 94 is a feat of engineering genius with how JMB designed the action.
>>127057801Based grandpa. My dad has given me a few rifles and handguns over the years and they’re special to me because I have fond memories shooting them as a kid. Auto 5s are really cool, I had one for a while but traded it for a weird rare Soviet optic for my AK74 many years ago. 226s are gigachad guns especially West German ones (but I am an unapologetic Beretta fanboy). I just piled all of my guns in the corners of my closet for years and years until I had a kid then I had to finally get a safe. I’ve got two safes filled with stuff now, I had to sell a lot that I didn’t shoot anymore because I didn’t want to buy more safes (I’ve been buying guns since I was 16 and have done a ton of buying and selling and trading over the years and have had a LOT).

Anyone here care to recommend or advise against an Epiphone SG?
i love my shitplank so much sisters
>>127057958I liked it at first but it just sounds so muddy and theres a few uneven frets making it so I can't set the action where I like it without a ton of fret noise.
Also I feel like the neck is really wobbly, like barely moving my arm makes it sound like a tremolo.
>>127057958Have you ever played an SG? I’d suggest trying one first. They’re polarizing, they either click for you or they don’t. If they don’t click for you try an Les Paul Special for something similar in construction.
>>127057966Also its a baby bitch in terms of build quality, the input jack nut comes loose very easily, the knobs feel incredibly fragile and flimsy, the pickup selector gets stuck sometimes and you have to reclick through for it to actually lock in.
it just sounds dead idk if its the pickups or my setup
First is Fender Strat, humbucker bridge
Second is Epiphone SG, Humbucker bridge
https://voca.ro/1csVcjS3chjJ
>>127057689Are you left handed? Why would you draw it that way?
>>127057958Newer epis are quite decent but if they're 800$ you're better off scoping ebay and reverb for japanese copies like edwards or grassroots that end up in the 400-700$ range
>>127057759Sorry. $250 probably from tariffs. No bone nut, this one is resting on the zero fret. The truss access is behind the nut instead of at the neck pocket. Same bridge. Different tops and inlays vary piece to piece even though that pattern does show up. A frew Grote logo on the body and pickups that don't show in the listings.
>>127058066I went to check, surprisingly most were 400$ or more but all seemed different. I've only seen reviews for earts but all the reviews are glowing. What got me was the pickup test landon bailey did and the 57 PAF copies actually read at about 8.4/9.1 respectively.
Would learning a 12 string first make it easier to paly a 6 string?
>>127057834I meant using the set screws. I don't think I've ever fucked with the truss rod, maybe a quarter turn one time. Maybe I got lucky.

>>127058091I should play the Grote more often. It has a few high frets that need to be hammered down on the ends. Neck, tuning, feel, mahogany body are all good. Pickups are passable and directly screwed in. They made the top print more convincing with some sort of stamping at the knots of the print.
>>127057948i'm not saying it isn't technically impressive, the 92 is smaller, smoother, lighter, and with 44 mag has 14 capacity vs 30-30s 12. i have a model 94 in 444 marlin which is great but it's a weaker action that the 92 desu
>>127058057yes also it's not even for me. if you don't like it you need to redraw it
>>127058102Yes, but you won't save any time because you'd be in the exact same situation if you did it the other way. You might as well tho. You'll get a unique style from weird habits. If you want you're first guitar to be a 12 string, go for it.
However, if you have a string already and you're asking this, you're a therapy shopper and need to practice what you already got. How far along are you?
>>127058184Ok I know what you mean. I’d love a 92 in a proper magnum revolver cartridge. I’ve got a newer Marlin 1894 in .357 that I need to have threaded to suppress but I’d still like a 92. I had an old 92 in .25-20 that I got for a while but it was such a pain to buy brass and molds and reload it and all that that I sold it. I loved how light and svelte it was. If it was .44-40 I’d have kept it because at least that is semi available if still expensive.
>>127057817You just got a bad one. CV are great for he money.
>>127058195It's cool. It just confused me at first until I looked at the g. The 2 guitars I actually play are in open D rn, but it's the easiest retune you can do. The hard part is going to be not reflexively playing the open d cord shapes.

Fender keeps changing what their "Standard" even is.
They can't make up their mind on the word "Standard". It was American Standard for years, but now it's the American Professional series. Except they came back with the regular foreign made "Standard" again, but keep the Professional line.
