I love your guitar, man. Can I borrow it? Hey, that guitar, I’d love to try it. Bro, that guitar looks sick, can I try it? Now that’s a fantastic guitar, I’d love to buy it. Can you get that guitar down for me? I need to try it. That’s a nice guitar, man, you should let me try it. Man, now there’s a guitar you should let me try. I’ll be careful, man, let me try that guitar.

The pickups on the MG65 have special “vintage” voiced pickups from the factory. They sound great, the bridge pickup especially sounds really great. The pickups on the vintage one sound great too but it’s the neck pickup on it that takes the cake over the two pickups. I don’t want to mess with the original pickups but it’d be cool to mix the vintage neck with the CIJ bridge and get the best of both worlds in it.
I’m going to need to do some tweaking with the wiring at some point because one of the sliders is wired in reverse. When the sliders are in the same direction they’re out of phase and when they’re in different directions they’re in phase and it should be the other way around. I don’t know if it was a factory mistake (I doubt it) but the soldering joints and wires are very old so if it was swapped around accidentally it was a long time ago. If I’m having to rewire that it would be the time to replace pickups if I’m going to do that, again I’d hate messing with replacing original pickups but Lollar makes some great sets of Mustang pickups that everyone recommends so idk

Got some radius gauges from china. I'm sure they're mislabeled because the 12" has much more curve than the 7.25". I don't want to have to check them all manually.

You can check them with a compass and a ruler, or a pencil and a string and a ruler. It would take all of 45 seconds to draw a couple radius circles and check the gauges against that. Anyway, that sucks balls, Anon. I like tools and having something not be precise would be a total bummer.

Some of the Paranormals are pretty decent. I have one of the first batch of Toronados and it feels really nice, but the pickup selector is starting to go and needs a fresh solder or maybe replacement. The pickups have a nice sound but are on the quiet side, I might pay someone to swap them for WRHBs and go through all the wiring to make sure it’s tip top. I have too many other projects active at the moment to tackle it myself, I’ve been operating on my MG100DFX and that has felt like open heart surgery to a laymen like myself. I got the new power switch on, now I just need to put the new input jack in..

I have two Sonics, one Mustang I got to practice fret maintenance on and a P bass I bought for recording initially but it’s so nice I find myself picking it up pretty frequently. I’m sure there are total lemons but the two I got came ready to play, especially the P bass. The satin necks and maple fretboards feel so good compared to the Squiers I’m used to. QC in general is a pretty big step up from the Squiers of 10+ years ago, it’s pretty impressive and worth actually recommending to new players looking to dip their feet in without spending hundreds of dollars.

A local shop got one of these 1980s MIJ Teles with two Seymour Duncan HBs and a locking vibrato, the same model guitar Frank Black used in with Pixies and I’m tempted because I’ve loved that band for 20 years and I’ve seen photos and videos of him playing this guitar a million times but it’s $1200 (yikes) and has some honest wear to it considering it’s 40 years old.

If you don't buy it, a tranny will, you don't want crusty semen getting on a guitar you love do you? (Also MiJ stuff is going to the moon now, old orville's cost as much as new LPs).
Also what wear? it looks decent, I have a MiJ that's only 15 years old and it was pretty beat up, far more than yours looks.

That’s just a pic of the model from google, I didn’t take a pic of the actual guitar. I love this band so freaking much and it’d be cool to have the guitar he used the most from the late 1980s through the early 1990s when they initially broke up. I hate Floyd Roses though so I’d have to get over it having a Fender branded Floyd Rose.

The thing I'm stuck on right now is scale shapes. With a base the shape is the same everywhere because it's all in 4ths, but even a standard tuning guitar has that B that should be a C to make cords easier but fucks up the pattern. With open D, I mostly can play in D using the open strings without fucking up, but any other key relies on some weird fret spacing.
I saw a video where a guy claimed he could play scales in dadgad and never use a string twice, but I didn't get it. Must have been a 12 string? I dunno.
Anyway I don't practice scales, ever. I sucked on base, but at least I could play scales.

I found the video
https://youtu.be/yl9q6dFOpA4?si=ZFvUITazTRoKUqnA
Around 6 minutes. He's heading towards the neck on the base strings when playing descending d major so he can actually go to a lighter string and never play the same string twice in a row. This only works with d though, bit is not a 12 string, it's dadgad.
I still have no concept on how to play scales in any non bass 4ths tuning without open strings.
Also, coming from bass to guitar is weird because the "bottom" e isn't the same as guitar. The way you refer to strings is reversed.

I always hear that, the CVs are equivalent or slightly better than the low range or MiM fenders but the electronics are gimped are are the first things that need to go with the wiring. After buying a CV and a decent drop in geared-up pickguard you're right back to the price of a player II or something.
What's interesting is some of the chinese amazon brands are starting to put out decent cheap fender copies with decent wiring/custom hot pups and full-size pots. I've been looking at Eart strats recently desu, that angry metrosexual finnish guy elmo karjalainen says earts usually win his affordable guitar shootouts but the main brands lack (except for epiphone now, surprisingly).

Aside that, some guitars can have wonky issues. I have a set-neck epi where the neck is slightly bent transversely and can never ever get the low E to stop buzzing... until I put a new tall nut on and put some business card under the string in the nut slot.
Some people don't have patience though but it took me like 12mins of youtube videos to learn what needed to happen.

Nah the 94 is the basically the same size firing a cartridge twice as long and considerably more pressure than the 92s original .44-40. 92s are super strong and great rifles too but the 94 is a feat of engineering genius with how JMB designed the action.

Based grandpa. My dad has given me a few rifles and handguns over the years and they’re special to me because I have fond memories shooting them as a kid. Auto 5s are really cool, I had one for a while but traded it for a weird rare Soviet optic for my AK74 many years ago. 226s are gigachad guns especially West German ones (but I am an unapologetic Beretta fanboy). I just piled all of my guns in the corners of my closet for years and years until I had a kid then I had to finally get a safe. I’ve got two safes filled with stuff now, I had to sell a lot that I didn’t shoot anymore because I didn’t want to buy more safes (I’ve been buying guns since I was 16 and have done a ton of buying and selling and trading over the years and have had a LOT).

Different tops and inlays vary piece to piece even though that pattern does show up. A frew Grote logo on the body and pickups that don't show in the listings.

Yes, but you won't save any time because you'd be in the exact same situation if you did it the other way. You might as well tho. You'll get a unique style from weird habits. If you want you're first guitar to be a 12 string, go for it.
However, if you have a string already and you're asking this, you're a therapy shopper and need to practice what you already got. How far along are you?

Ok I know what you mean. I’d love a 92 in a proper magnum revolver cartridge. I’ve got a newer Marlin 1894 in .357 that I need to have threaded to suppress but I’d still like a 92. I had an old 92 in .25-20 that I got for a while but it was such a pain to buy brass and molds and reload it and all that that I sold it. I loved how light and svelte it was. If it was .44-40 I’d have kept it because at least that is semi available if still expensive.

It's cool. It just confused me at first until I looked at the g. The 2 guitars I actually play are in open D rn, but it's the easiest retune you can do. The hard part is going to be not reflexively playing the open d cord shapes.

The music you play expresses yourself, no reason why that can't pertain to the way the instrument looks as well.

Fender keeps changing what their "Standard" even is.
They can't make up their mind on the word "Standard". It was American Standard for years, but now it's the American Professional series. Except they came back with the regular foreign made "Standard" again, but keep the Professional line.

Years later I got a nice fender Strat and since then it’s snowballed and the more nice guitars I buy the more I play. I’m back to playing for hours a day, both serious practice as well as noodling around the house or when watching tv at night.
