Why do millennials hate nu-metal so much? Whenever you mention any nu-metal band around one of these onions boys they always start giggling like idiots and claim the band/genre sucks. Why are they like this?

Everybody dunks on nu-metal. Only a small group of zoomers who aren't even representative of zoomers as a whole are trying to appropriate and change people's perceptions on nu-metal.

It's like the equivalent of some 12 year old on 2009 Youtube who worships Queen and Guns & Roses.

nobody likes nu metal because it was for fat angry trailer trash manlets. also the songs were just shitty drop D riffs with no solos.

To be fair the only millennials I see dunking on nu-metal are always pretentious metalheads and redditors who only listen to Scaruffi and Fantano approved "muzak", just all around the most annoying people you'd ever have the displeasure of meeting.

I'm somewhere on the cusp of gen x/millennial and at the time a lot of people, myself included, resented that nu-metal bands like Korn and Linkin Park completely eclipsed "real" metal in the US with a sound completely different than what the Euro and other countries bands were doing (which was a more direct evolution of the more technical thrash/speed/traditional heavy metal style popularized by Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Helloween, and the like).

I'm not a fan but at the same time I hold pop punk and emo in greater contempt. Simple Plan were truly one of the most horrible bands to exist.

Listened to this album during my early teens and only liked a few tracks. Nowadays I enjoy the entire album.

Original nu metal fans all weeded themselves out of the gene pool by imitating Jackass or using solvents recreationally.

A lot of it does not exhibit the, for lack of a better word, musicality of metal. Metal is harsh, yes, but also melodic, atmospheric, technical, depending on the subgenre. Nu-metal is just aggresive, in an almost comical way, and incorporates elements that just don't fit, like rap, which is sonically very different, and not very compatible with metal. Sometimes it can work, like an avant-garde experiment, but here it just comes off as "that kind of loud, aggressive music that you've heard about but never actually listened to" mixed with some elements of the popular zeitgeist of the industry. Thus, it is metal tailor-made for people who don't listen to metal. If you like it, that's fine, even I might not dislike every single song, but it is understandable why fans of traditional metal and its later (mainly European) evolution don't like it

Death metal is even more aggressive, noisy, and atonal, so you can't lack of musicality on numetal alone. Black metal intentionally sounds like shit.
