you literally can, those old dive pubs like that always stunk of cigarettes and spilt beer and the floor would feel sticky. I was too late for the era of leather jackets so its more sketchy women, drunk guys and cheap cologne.

At least the cigarette smoke helped overriding other smells.
Back when they introduced the smoking ban in my area, locations started to smell really weird because the cigarette smell was going away and the beer and puke smell got more prominent.
