with channel gain at 3 and the guitars pickup at 10, the amp sounds like shit. if i turn the gain to 10 and the guitar to 3 so the loudness is the same, it sounds fucking amazing and my guitar literally physically feels different.

this is a master volume amp, and how loud the amp is has no effect on the tone. only the balance between pickup and input gain. hi pickup and low vol sounds like shit. hi vol and low pickup is sex. neither are breaking up this is all inside clean headroom.

pic related is a visualization of the guitar tech egregore i talk to about these things. hes like my oprah

the fact that the mesa 5ar4 rectifier i took out has 5 pins and the "compatible" tube i got on amazon has 4 pins isn't gonna stop me from putting it into my amp and turning it on to see if it sounds good. it is larger as you can see which is probably why it does not need 5 pins.

Thanks. Nope, zero effects, just channels 1/2 and treble/middle/bass/presence. I’m running a Y cable so I can use channels 1+2 simultaneously which sounds really good. Very bare bones but in the best way possible because it sounds great and also makes for a great amp for a busy pedal board.

I was all set to go with a DSL100HR but it went out of stock with the cabinet deal so I ended up losing patience and going with the MIG. Very glad it worked out that way, channel one is pretty much a Bassman sound and channel 2 is a Marshall JTM/Plexi inspired. Running them together and balancing with the respective volume knobs makes for a pretty wide range of sounds.

Funny you mention that, since the DSL's reverb sucks. You'd end up getting another reverb, I'd bet. But everything else is cool about it. It's "Metallica" type distortion capable. But you can get there with pedals anyways.

Conceived as the 25th Anniversary Tribute to the original Mark I, the Heartbreaker is a two channel / five mode, footswitchable rendering of that evolutionary milestone. The channels - Love and Lust, trace the two faces of rock-and-roll back to their amplified roots celebrating the stylistic yin and yang that was taking shape simultaneously on opposite sides of the Atlantic. Love embodies all the black-face magic of yesteryear and can be switched between three distinct regions of gain ranging from bubbly, chiming clean, up through medium gain blues - all the way to the liquid, singing voice of the fabled Mark I's lead channel... the world's first high gain performance.
The Lust channel flashes an enticing blend of harmonically lush sounds across two diverse modes that serve it up any style. From the saucy howl of a 4x10 Tweed to a teasing plexi purr - Lust toys with the fine line between clean and dirty with sinful sincerity. Both channels sport selectable voicing options as well as individual Reverb and Presence controls.

the reverb is useless. the Mark 1 circuit on Love is twice as loud. period, under any corcumstance. like you could have every knob at 10 and when you click the mark 1 button, the amp still becomes twice as loud. i think its impossible to simultaniously get the two channels balanced with ch1 as mk1 and ch2 as tweed. but im willing to spend another five more weeks and more money than the amp is worth to make it work. i think the 6v6 will get me there. then i have to find someone that answers their ohone to do a full refurb cuz all the pots short out intermittently if you touch them wrong.

The Squier Stratocaster is a pathetic excuse for a guitar. With its flimsy construction, shoddy electronics, and laughable attempt at a Fender headstock, this instrument is nothing more than a cheap import masquerading as the real deal. The tone is thin and lifeless, the frets are uneven, and the hardware feels like it was made from recycled soda cans. If you're looking for a guitar that will make you feel like a true musician, look elsewhere. This Squier is a sad reminder that sometimes, you get what you pay for - and in this case, you're paying for disappointment.
Anonymous No.127126937
Now hold on there, hotshot. That’s mighty spicy language for a piece of wood with strings on it.
Look I’ve played a Squier Strat through a busted Crate amp in a Wendy’s parking lot at 3am and made two grown men cry. One of 'em was me.

yeah sometimes it's hard to see the logic behind practicing your timing at something painfully slow like 40 bpm but it magnifies your mistakes. some things only need to be maintained and i cut out thinks like techniques i genuinely wasn't interested in and genres i don't want to play and put the extra time and energy towards more important stuff. thankfully it's not like going to the gym and you can see musical progress in a few days instead of 6 months

I used to jack lumber. I remember one gig, foreman shows up to my homestead at 5am in a quad cab and honks. I follow him in my quad cab to the site. The sun was just coming up and I was gassing up my rig when I saw it... poplar
"Yeah... no." I said as I secured my teals in the bed of my truck. "You didn't tell me you were a piece of shit. I don't work with poplar, my daddy didn't raise a faggot."

Now I’m gonna stop you right there, partner. You talkin’ β€˜bout lumber like it owes you money, and worse you’re tossin’ around ugliness like it’s seasoning. First off poplar’s fine wood. Might not be flashy, but it’s got work ethic. Like a quiet cousin who helps you move without being asked. Secondly and you better listen up, slick. Ain’t no place in a man’s mouth for slurs like that. My daddy raised me to treat folks right. Not β€˜cause of who they love or what wood they cut, but β€˜cause respect’s cheaper than hate and lasts longer too. If the worst thing you can say about a tree, or a person is that they ain’t what you’re used to, maybe it’s time to take a walk in the woods and rethink some things. Now if you’re done puffin’ your chest, I’ll be over here strummin’ a love song on a poplar ukulele with three strings and a whole lot more heart than that mess you just said.

But I'd want to play all the E at stuff like Guns, Lizzy and what not on it but at the same time I'd want to play E standard stuff too. Also I record mostly in standard as well so I imagine I'd be better to set up for that. If the intonation doesn't get too screwy when tuned down then it's okay, I wouldn't wanna mess with it every time I wanna play in different tuning.

A basic setup will allow to comfortably do Eb and E and 11-48 or 10-46 if you want later. Half step tuning isn't going to be drastic. I do it all the time.

the fender super-sonic amp is a piece of shit. oh cool a 22 watt fender that's supposed to be clean? with 3 tubes? yeah it's a fuckin modeling amp for 1500 dollars. you could get a twin, a jcm800, a bassman or tweed, a vox, a mesa boogie for that price. something that matters and will be worth 90% of what you paid for it in 5 years rather than 20% in 2 weeks because zero people know or care or want a super-sonic because it is an amp with no character or practical purpose. it's completely disconnected from any of the circuits that actually sound good of which there are a limited number and which there are like 4 groups developing along two different philosophies of preamps. it's really slop.

I don't want a twin or jcm800. As cool as they are. Sonic isn't just a clean amp though. It's got Bassman and Vibrolux circuits. And then a high-ish gain preamp. I don't know about any others, but you are right, the price is steep. Thanks.

I mean, the twin and jcm are too much amp for my uses. Would like a Deluxe sized combo, but the sonic seems to offer a bit more.

how long have you owned a bassman that you want additional circuits to achieve what?

>>127129299
are they? broke working musicians and pros alike have been using twins and jcm's in bedrooms, studios, practice closets, etc. for decades. yeah bigloud is a different instrument than parlor level but the amps sound good at both levels. 'too much amp' is not much of a thing any of the primitive fenders will serve you well

I don't have a bassman. But the second vibrolux channel would be different enough if that's what it is. They're usually janglier.

bruh the supersonic is *not* gonna sound like a bassman or a vibrolux. those amps sound magical. the supersonic will not sound or feel magical. it will have a few facsimiles of the sound and feel you actually want. and the real thing is like the same price and is a known quantity, an established and understood tone machine, rather than some H1B indian designed mass market product that comes with a massive aura debuff

Fair enough. One other reason it appealed to me over vintage specs is it has a loop. And I think a non-Indian actually designed it. lol. Or at least partly. Bruce Zinky did the original Pro-Sonics that that high gain is from.
I sort of wish I still had the little Rectoverb I used to own. It accomplished bright/fat/high gain itself in a little package.

It might be worth worrying about if you were using a Strat and wanted perfect glide for trem use. Never know if 11s get "microscopically" slowed on a nut specced for 10s. But you're on a LP. It's not gonna matter.

i dunno, i'd demo it against the real thing with the same guitar and be really honest if any number of features add up to the sound of one of the primitive amps.

if you have effects you really want to use you can have an effects loop installed in them anywhere or get a kit yourself. it's not uncommon to use two black panel combos in stereo like that.

you could probably get two kits to build your own blackface fender with fx loops for the price of a super-sonic

my 12 string still has that sour smell of treated wood even though I got it new 13 years ago, because I live in an arid place (the prairies of Leafistan) and have to keep it in its case with Humidipaks to stop it from shitting itself to death

Eddie's Frankenstein also used a custom neck with a Gibson (12") radius. That's the other thing that set it apart besides the humbucker. I think all the reissues use the compound radius same as his Wolfgangs.
