>With all due respect to the people who went out and bought those records, they are just rubbish. Particularly The Division Bell; it's just nonsense from beginning to end. A Momentary Lapse of Reason had a couple of really nice tunes on it that, had I still been in the band, those chord sequences and melodies would have been made it onto a record that I was involved in. But conceptually and lyrically, it's just rubbish, partly because it's not true. It's like, "Let's try and write songs that sound as if they're Pink Floyd and make records that sound like Pink Floyd records."
>>127129314 (OP)Not as good as Gilmour because no Gilmour guitar.
He's right, Pink Floyd turning into an edgeless new age/yacht rock band is insulting (listen to "Terminal Frost"). There are few good tracks here and there in The Divison Bell, but the soul is completely gone even if they tried to deliver a more conceptual work. Of course, they were still talented musicians but mediocre-to-bad songwriters.

>>127129645>edgeless new age/yacht rock band "waaaaah this sounds like a bunch of rich white guys making music!"guess what. It is a bunch of rich white guys making music. I'd rather have ear candy huge records than listen to a bunch of middle aged rich white guys pretend to be edgy.
>>127129314 (OP)this nigga looks like an easter island head
They suck ass. But Roger's solo albums suck ass too.
>>127133111stone. stone. stone. stone. stone. stone. stone. stone.
>>127129620songwriting makes songs good
>>127133424the first three are all good to great.
>>127137397He had some good songs. Sorrow, for one.
>>127129620he's got Jeff Beck and Clapton though... the guitar work is great
what's missing is Gilmour singing, 100 percent dead dad talking is too much, needs Gilmour to balance it out
>>127129620Clapton plays the best guitar of his career on Pros and Cons.
>>127129314 (OP)>it's just nonsense from beginning to end.bit rich considering Pink Floyd's early efforts
The Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking is a good album.
Gilmour mogged all of the post Waters Floyd material, and post Floyd Waters material, with On an Island
>>127133424you wouldn't say that about pros/cons and KAOS, faggot
>>127129314 (OP)i've covered a few pink floyd songs in my day

>post roger waters pink floyd
theres no such a thing
>>127129314 (OP)>Particularly The Division Bell; it's just nonsense from beginning to endbullshit. Fuck you, roger
> A Momentary Lapse of Reason had a couple of really nice tunes on it 100% true. Learning to fly and on the turning away are top tier
>>127129314 (OP)there was no Pink Floyd after Roger left. it was basically a david gilmour solo project
>>127129314 (OP)Amused to Death was good
>>127139659Technically, he was still in the band when this was released, but that's a valid opinion irrespective of that
>>127139898Terminal Frost and Yet Another Film were great too IMO, Sorrow was good as well if we're generous. AMLOR is not that bad an album really
>>127129314 (OP)he is completely right. theres been a backlash to the negative reception but the positives are few, Id rather listen to the shitter roger waters led albums
>>127129750>pretend to be edgy what band are you confusing them for, man
>>127140144*Yet Another Movie and you're not wrong.
The guitar intro to Sorrow alone makes AMLOR worthwhile.

>>127139814KAOS was garbage by rog's own admission
amused to death was his real masterpiece
i havent listened to his last album but have heard some good things about iot does anybody reccomend it?
>>127129314 (OP)the latter half of most rock bands' discographies are trash no one listens to. he can claim responsibility for their golden era but it likely had less to do with him not being in the band and more to do with them just getting older and running out of ideas.
