>>127131579There's going to be a glut of Pelham blue guitars sitting in the used pile at Guitard Center, like the piles of silverburst guitars there now. I kind of hate how every jumps on a finish and beats it to death, until there's a Pelham blue Harley Benton.
>>127131579they should've originally put that big fin on top. it would make an incredible arm rest
>>127136012That UAFX quality.
I've sold my guitars and amps and was in bands and now I wanna get back into it. I used to write music using a program called tabit, but apparently people use guitar pro now? What is that like? If I have headphones and a macbook air am I able to use guitar pro without having to buy a practice amp? I live in an apartment when I used to live in a house.
When buying a first guitar again, how do you know which to one you should buy? Should I find others who want to start a band or project, and buy the best guitar within my budget that would fit for the genre we decide on? Or should I not rely on others and seriously do some soul searching on what kind of music I want to play or practice? I need advice for starting up music again.
>>127136383What's wrong with them? I heard they're good....just expensive.
>>127133888My amp doesn't have a standby. It's just that awesome (not really).
>>127136580well i think everything is going to start with deciding what you want to play and practice first. then the guitar will come from that decision and then you can start thinking about everything else from there your music tastes might even change as you progress on your instrument
Fender makes so many sigs now because they want to promote rock and especially new artists.
Same with, say, Marshall making a fancy music studio or Gibson making a record label.
It makes sense now. Instrument companies are the last men standing with rock diminishing. Can you even think of record labels that give a shit? The instrument guys have a lot of non-rock musicians to not die off themselves, but they don't want rock to die.
>>127136828>Can you even think of record labels that give a shit?Sorry to be the one to tell you, but people dont buy records. We live in a streaming music economy, streaming services like Spotify pay .00001 penny per song. So yeah, keep blaming record companies dumb ass
>>127136877It's just a general term. I mean spotify too. The whole shebang. They've mostly moved on.
The only big entities propping up rock now are instrument makers. So it makes sense to me that they're getting a little more involved in it's distribution and marketing.
>>127136750It's tough. My tastes have matured a bit but I still like cool sounding things. I just doesn't have to sound cool for the entire song, and now I prefer more variation and unpredictability.
Like if you want to write in standard tuning you're going to be looking at certain types of guitars. If you want to write in drop d, c, b, you're going to be looking at different types than the standard ones. Then drop a and lower and you'll probably be looking at certain guitars that involve more than six strings. I just have to figure things out on how I want to get back into music. It's hard to do it alone.
>>127136828what's funny is john mayer left fender because he couldn't get a signature model and he's one of the younger generations models along with joe bonerblaster. a little too late, leo

How much of a difference does bolt on vs set vs neck through really make? To me bolt on seems the smartest because you can just replace the neck should you need to instead of needing to do a whole bunch of work to fix or replace a neck.
>>127138747In terms of tone, none.
In terms of feel set necks are gonna feel noticeably different, for some it's better and some worse.
>>127138747Some may argue a set neck has a better tone, but I can't tell if it's true. I suppose you can get better fret access from a set neck's carve a typical Fender like bolt on, but it never bothered me.
>>127138809than a typical Fender bolt-on*
Hasn't bothered many for that matter. Shredders used bolt ons almost exclusively and took the upper frets to their limit. But I think Nuno was one of the first to start messing with the carve and make a bolt on carve more egonomic too. Now that's common even on Fenders (Ultras).
>>127138747If your bolt-on breaks you could replace it, but then you'd have to find one of the exact same specs and build quality.

>>127142849There are passive EMGs too and they sound good, but all have more or less the same profile. Even the active ones.
I prefer Seymour Duncan because their brand is like a candy store. Want PAFs? we got 'em. Want to sound like a fucking chainsaw? we got that too. And it's all passive.
>>127142969Alexi Laiho's signature pup is a passive EMG with a battery-powered boost pot included
>>127143036and now he's dead
good riddance
have you been practicing anons?
If you don't, i'll know
>>127142969Yeah I love SDs too. They're always inventing new stuff.
>>127143110QRD on this guy?
>>127143138his name is Mountain and he plays his ukelele all over the place. you could catch him at a wendys or maybe a sears parking lot. he always smells pretty bad but he's not so bod once you get to know him
>>127143348>getting rid of the best trem
Hot take
Trems are stupid and never sound good when used
>>127143110My wrists hurt whenever I play now so I probably shouldn't play
https://voca.ro/1mt5yfCsmAuL
>>127143348Lemme just mod this. Pepecaster's almost done.
>no one wants to buy my slightly modded squier tele for 400โฌ (I paid 400โฌ myself 5 years ago for it)
Seems like I will have to own more than 1 guitar then.
>>127140374>try the neck pickup with any type of drive>sounds like my guitar is shitting itselfHow come science hasn't solved that yet?
>>127143446I get not wanting a trem, but never sound good? Insanely hot take
>>127141306I've seen someone use it as a pre-amp and it sounded better (I think it was the Ola Englund video).
>>127140374Neck for rhythm Bridge for lead.
>>127143484was youtube trickery
>>127143110I don't know how to practice. I'm "beginner intermediate" and I have no idea how to approach this. I wish there was a course which told me exactly what to practice. Everything I find is just some random knowledge or concepts, without any resemblance of systematic teaching.
>>127143495Really? Why would they do that? The tone in which he presented it seemed genuine and somber. I also stumbled upon it from another video, where the person also mentioned it in a serious way. What's the point of tricking people like this?
>>127143508It's not a trick it actually works. Preamp pedals are real.
>>127143503It helps to have a goal in mind anon.
Lets say you want to play Bark at the Moon (RIP OZZY FR FR).
You would want to practice alternate picking, D minor, palm muting, etc.
Lets get a little more general, lets say you want to learn a genre. Well, every genre has a toolkit and a bunch of common licks. You would want to practice the toolkit of the genre, if you play country consider fingerpicking, travis picking, chicken picking, excellent left hand and right hand muting, if you want to play metal consider alternate picking, economy picking, sweep picking, tremolo picking, legato runs, minor scales etc.
>>127143508Nah I'm just joshin' yah haha I don't really know
>>127143466>any used squier selling for 400 yuroswhat the fuck did you expect
>>127143466What mods? Are they any good?
>roll into Louisiana on fumes and vibes
>gut rumbles like a voodoo drum
>pulled by some cosmic force to the swamps outside New Orleans
>swamp gets real quiet
>air thick like gravy
>start playing an emotionally confused cover of โCry Me a Riverโ
>swamp stew inside me starts boiling
>no restroom for miles, only nature and fear
>find a tree that looks wise
>apologize to it
>leave behind what I can only describe as a spiritual offering
>wipe with a printed setlist from a failed jazz-fusion trio I found stapled to a cypress root
>feel reborn
>>127143466its a modified squier
you gotta take the price down by 30-40%
>>127141527No I need way less.
>>127143812Don't need a pickup selector? You're cool in my book.
>>127143857Only one pickup.
>>127143446Listen to more Blackmore and Beck.
>>127144280not true, its just time to start lifting

>>127139758
>>127144388not sure lifting would help with that kind of injury instead of making it worse doc
>>127144280find a doctor, preferably someone who plays. there's alot of blues doctors.
>>127144585>not sure how strengthening the muscles, connective tissue, and flooding the joint with blood 5 days a week will helpyeah, thats why your wrists hurt kek
what does gee gee think about the new wave of "smart" guitars?
>>127144637They aren't good because no fapping technique. They work long hours and end up sleeping on the couch in the hospitals they work at. Can't be jerking there.
>>127144712>"smart" guitarshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eiRcdv2lK58
>>127144712unironically looks like "minimum viable product" if it was a guitar
>>127144712>tfw you play a dumb guitar
>>127144712Gay, I only play retard guitars
>>127144836This shit is actually weird. Why are Chinese like this?
Or are they actually make shittons of neck planks and pre-fretting them... then cutting them down to size when ready to be put on a body?
>>127144856That's a headless thing, strandbergs have fret 0 too
>>127144879But they're doing it to all kinds of guitars.
Hell even steinberger have them
>>127144905Only the literally who ones, but it's common headless
you guys try out any cool pedals recently?
>>127144915they even put em on nice guitars too
>>127144926Marshall makes the best Marshall in a box pedals now.
>>127144936>another "what if tele but x brand"It's so tiresome
>>127144946its a 'lifestyle' tone
>>127144926harp lady with the big cans ought to play guitar
>>127144926i gave up on that shit a couple years ago. got tired of it
>>127144950you gonna cry about it? gonna shit your pants? maybe cum a little?
>>127144961would you like it if I cum? that's kinda weird man
>>127144960guess we all age out of creativity eventually
>>127144926There's not any store with pedals within 4 hours
>>127144973saved this one for you try it out and let me know how you go
>>127144954For all the silly lifestyle stuff, they've done a good job of still staying in the guitar space. So I'm not going to hate. It'd be different if they blew guitars off completely. They've kind of pivoted from the big stack days to the Studio models. And these pedals are cool too.
Does marshall have high end modelers like fender
>>127144958that aesthetic has already been filled
>>127144958for all the bitching and moaning i see here about every pedal and amp demo jerking off with the same blues licks i think it serves a useful purpose
>>127145012is this hoe still relevant in current year
>>127145027more relevant than you my friend :)
>>127145011No. And I hope they don't try. They made those Code amps, but they stink and I forgot who actual software..but it isn't them.
They're combatting Digital with these smaller gear setups. I think that's cool. They don't lose their identity with this. It's just smaller.
>>127145012harpist is bigger but i'll take it
>>127145045forgot who makes the actual software*
>>127144905Mosrites have always had zero frets
>>127145038yeah I didn't even michael jackson hyping me up, life's hard
>>127145045I think they took their lifestyle stuff a tad too far, lots of people don't even know them as the guitar amp brand these days they just think they make bluetooth speakers and headphones
>>127145064No shit. My bad. That said, that's not a real Mosrite for sure. It's one of those shitplank Chinese guitars like you see plastered on ebay with all kinds of fake logos.
>>127145085imo making speakers is still on brand, lifestyle is like coasters and clothing, or that fender chair thing
>>127144926ive really been enjoying my rubberneck delay yeah
>>127145085That's probably a good thing. Guitarists alone probably weren't going to keep them alive, at least not without downsizing. But now guitarists can still have Marshall around, while everyone gets other shit and props up the company up.
Anderton's recent factory tour is pretty interesting. He makes note of how 10 years ago it felt a bit depressing and quiet. But now it's bustling and they're making shittons of amps. So something must've worked out.

>>127135968>one of the three primary colors is a temporary fadbro it's just a shade of blue
>>127145337>he thinks blue is a primary pigmentRETARD ALERT!!!!
https://vocaroo.com/160KmVRpV1yP
How can I monetize my generic chugs?
>>127145597oh they changed what the primary colors are? my bad
doesn't change the fact that blue isn't exactly an exotic finish so I'm right either way
but now that you've been wrong I'm double right
>>127145669additive and subtractive colourspaces have existed since cavemen figured out you could smear shit on walls
you cannot mix every colour with red, green and blue paint.
>>127145713I can actually do whatever the fuck I want.
>>127145724please mix magenta and cyan from red, yellow and blue
>>127145713I thought that's precisely how to get these colors.
Picrel isn't Pelham Blue. Just using it as an example.
>>127145729Aren't you making it easier by going to RGBY now?
>>127145729mix blue and yellow to get green then mix rgb
>>127145750hex colour is ADDITIVE colour
it only works with coloured light (the pixels on your monitor)
to mix pigment you need to work with CYMK+W which is subtractive colourspace.

by all means, tell me more about colorspaces because I was actually planning on painting my guitar with a HP inkjet printer
>>127145957>I was actually planning on painting my guitar with a HP inkjet printerThat would be an awesome way to paint shit.
Just set it in a bed and hit print and out pops a perfectly painted whatever.

>>127146295not at all, you just have to keep it from getting wet
wow, this general sucks ass.
the n-word
>>127143537Not really, just cosmetic. Graphtech nut, new Gotoh tuners and bridge, new pickguard.
>>127143516I think that's exactly what I want to avoid. I would love to have a curriculum of generic technique stuff and theory to go with it. The way you described seems unorganized and disconnected to me. I think that's how I "learned" before.
so did the guy that makes the new threads just die
>>127138747Based on the internet and the half dozen guitars I own, thereโs something to a set neck in terms of sustain. Notes die a lot easier on Fenders than Gibsons. Thatโs probably more due to pickup type though desu
>>127147310Its the pickups. Neck sustain isn't a thing. Sympathetic vibrations are picked up as hum, not tone.
