Ozzy was objectively a terrible vocalist. Dio had the chops and the power behind his voice, Ozzy just did drunk / high ramblings on the mic and called it a day

If you want to be a good vocalist sing opera retard. Rock is not about who technically sings better (tho it *sometimes* helps).
Reminder that Ozzy was there before the 80s heavy metal tarzan screaming, during it and after it. His 90s run was great, he survived the 80s tarzan metal shit. Meanwhile, with Dio, when tarzaning aoohohohoho went out of style, he disappeared. Because he was a one note musician.

He wasn't one note. He was in multiple bands, and contributed differently to all of them. I mean, they're not the same bands just because Dio was in them.

And all of them were tarzan aaahhhhooohohoho. When they shit died in the 9late 80s, Dio died with them. And was never influential again.
Meanwhile Ozzy was still a big player and influential in the 90s.

Dio was capable of other stuff. He's not one note. Strange Highways and Angry Machines prove it.
They aren't that popular or friendly to the average listener, but they are good.
I think dio vs ozzy is comparing apples to oranges. They arent supposed to be the same.

Eric Adams?

as a vocalist, but Ozzy was THE frontman and his voice was born for Sabbath. Both legends of course. Heaven and Hell is amazing though.

I like Dio solo, but his songs with the Sabbath always leave me thinking "it probably would have been even better if Ozzy sang it", particularly Heaven and Hell.
I feel the same regarding Deep Purple and the Mark III singer: Burn would have been an even better song if it had been Ian Gillan instead.
