Therefore Metal is faster and heavier Blues
>>127132952You do not understand music.
>>127132232Black Sabbath are nobodies without Ozzy as the frontman
Black Sabbath were a super heavy Blues Rock band, but you can't realistically say stuff like Thrash/Death/Black/Power has any trace of the blues influence left. Doom and Groove, it's still there
The song Black Sabbath from the S/T album released in in 1970 contains the blue prints for every niche genre that sprang up later, utilizing the tritone interval, which wasn't used in any blues based music.
>>127133305>Doom and Groove>doesn't mention stoner metalStoner metal has way more blues influence than doom and groove metal lol
>>127133305Metal did shed its blues influence over time but even there Black Sabbath influenced thrash (yes, Symptom of the Universe's main riff is proto-thrash).
It was mainly punk influence that bled away the blues influence.
>Blues rock + horror movies = Heavy Metal>Heavy Metal + Punk = Hardcore Punk>Hardcore Punk + Heavy Metal = Thrash Metal>Thrash Metal + Satanism = Black Metal>Thrash Metal + Zombie movies = Death Metal>Death Metal + Hardcore Punk = Grindcore>Grindcore + Death Metal = Goregrind, Deathgrindetc
they just keep back crossing over and over.
>>127133305There's blues in death and thrash, it's just harder to hear it because of the speed and arrangement. Sometimes it's very explicit though, in riff changes and guitar solos.
>>127133444Stoner Metal is an offshoot of Doom Metal
I guess in my influences I forgot to include Psychedelic Rock but yeah
Blues Rock + Psychedelic Rock + Horror Movies
that's Black Sabbath's DNA, and where Doom Metal comes from, Stoner Rock is just Doom Metal with extra Psychedelic Rock influence.

Help me find a band /metal/. This band was dropped as a recommendation by some anon here a long time ago and I randomly remembered it after many years. I did listen to the band back in the day but I've since forgotten the name and I'd like to find it again.
The band was described as experimental doom metal if I remember correctly. They had a singer-drummer with a very unique, distinct and "weird" (maybe high-pitched?) voice. I'm pretty sure that the band only had one full-length album and they were mentioned as a part of people discussing amazing bands that only ever released a single album (Infester, Demilich, Lykathea Aflame etc.)
>>127135689I like these scavenger hunts. Do you remember anything else? Song names, album art, or even something trivial like the band name starting with a certain letter?
>>127132344Genuinely what were they thinking with this album art?
I know it's supposed to be "the war pigs" but even ignoring that they retitled the album it looks fucking retarded
Been off of /metal/ for many years. How do you get by? I thought metal was dead in 2015. Now rock is dead, guitar music is dead, music as a whole is virtually dead and no one cares anymore. Spurdo is dead too. Unironically, metal as a genre at least has its core auditory and sparks of legit creativity here and there, everything else is even deader

Something like Sabbath and Ozzy's early solo career have widespread appeal and at this point while still technically heavy metal, doesn't sound so abrasive so you hear Iron Man and Crazy Train on classic rock stations on the radio. Like normies will listen to Ozzy and enjoy it.
Normies will listen to some Thrash as well
but Death Metal and Black Metal filter a lot of people because they're too abrasive sounding and subject matter too dark.

Remember vividly getting home from school firing up WoW and blasting Sabbath, good times.
The Ozzy super fans want to fuck Kelly, because it's Ozzy's face on a woman's body.

JP was always into Sabbath, they went from rock stuff to metal because of them.
Besides, KK was there, he's more than fit to represent Judas Priest.

Crazy how it took one of the most important figures of metal for the thread to be the most on-topic it's been in...forever

>>127137887Live At Last is fucking fantastic and is insanely underrated. Good man. And to answer your q, the show is literally this one (https://youtu.be/EPJXuTK8j5k) which has been on the Internet for years and years.
>>127137959Yeah I've got the US pressing too but I just don't understand why they included Evil Woman on the original pressing. They already had another original song they could've included (Wicked World) so why include a second cover?
>>127137153Even punk and hardcore have guitar solos
>>127135773I was actually more scared by The Wizard. The harmonica in that song (played by Ozzy himself) had this droning, scary sound to it. The whole record sounds like the cover though. PERFECT cover.
