In the centre of the empire of darkness
Black fortress stands mighty and proud
The shelter for the traced and tortured
For the one who's damned
A dragon is watching the fortress
Black knights are controlling the land
To save their proteges from torment
They fight to defend
Rancour, against all raiders
Beware, if you're renegade's hunter
Watch out in slough's haze
Vigilance, 'cause death waits
Recourse, to the traced
Be calm, they'll give you shelter
Restless, they fight for freedom
Never, they don't let you fall

>when it comes to legacy
Ozzy is a legend, and not just within a small black metal community but everyone knows Ozzy. Louis Cachet will be barely a footnote after he dies, people will know Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne for 100 years.
>when it comes to being influential
Every band that inspired Louis Cachet... was inspired by Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne, even if he personally was not. Every genre of metal wouldn't even exist, if not for Ozzy Osbourne.
>when it comes to be a good husband and father
honestly, not really in our scope. I can't judge how Louis Cachet is as a husband and father, and I've barely seen any of the Osbournes TV show so I don't know what all went on there. I didn't really care about his personal life, just him as a performer and musician.
>when it comes to being a good guy in general
Ozzy never murdered anyone.
how is this even in consideration?
Louis Cachet murdered his own bandmate over power in being the "leader" of the "black metal inner circle"
Stabbed him 16 times in the back while he was running away for his life in his underwear.
That is subhuman behavior.

>Harry lives in an apartment with the Dursleys with a hyperpredatory lease that aims to get as much money out of the residents through fines as possible. As just a facet of the multitude of ways in which the corporate machine of a building sucks cash out of the residents, we spy a middle aged man trip and spill a giant pot of soup on the common area red carpet, between the highrise apartment buildings that jut far up into the grey overcast skies. He laments and is sad and frustrated at how much his trip to the ground is going to cost him.
>The management even went so far as to track how often the cleaners had to go inside each resident's space to do routine cleaning and maintenance, which is tracked on two handy mechanical spring devices installed in front of each door. The cog shaped wheel turns each time the space is cleaned by the crew and displays double digit analog numbers on each side of the entrance door.
>In a freak accident Harry spills and crushes a bunch of pretzels into the red interior carpet of the building. Vernon, whose 3 inch diameter life support tubes in the side of hist stomach, shaggy black hair, closed eyes, mouth that doesn't move when he speaks and hospital gown occupy one's entire field of vision when he speaks, barks out "Dudley wouldn't do that!" All of a sudden the door on a closet in Dudley's room explodes and a wave of piss spills out and starts to flood the downstairs portion of the apartment. Vernon becomes furious with rage and his life support tubes slowly pop out one by one with steam popping out. Harry yells to him "Nooo don't do it!" in an attempt to save Vernon's life. Vernon says "It's better this way" before the last tube flies out with some steam and he dies as the piss floods the room, hoping that his life support money would pay his family enough to live on.

Everyone knows Ozzy but no one respects him. Varg is respected by everyone even lefties.
Ozzy's stale diapermusic only influenced bad bands. Burzum comes from classical and electronic music, not dirty diaper pub tunes like Sabbath.
At least you agree Pozzy was a bad father and child molester.
Varg saved the world from the next Stalin with his heroic stabbing.
Another Varg W across the boards.

I mean not exactly 100 years ago but musicians like Beethoven and Wagner are remembered from the 1800's
and people in the future will remember the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, and Black Sabbath
in 100-200 years it might be a footnote or a historical curiosity when it comes to even remembering Heavy Metal as a music trend for a period of some decades in the later 20th and early 21st century.. but when they do study it, like one might study the Romance period of music they'll know Beethoven, Wagner, Chopin, and Tchaikovsky... they'll connect the Heavy Metal period with... Black Sabbath, and possibly Judas Priest and Iron Maiden, maybe Metallica if they don't even break down subgenres and just consider it all "Heavy Metal". "Atmospheric Black Metal" as a subgenre will be totally forgotten by everyone but people researching more obscure things of the time period.

People still enjoy the Beatles and Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, and will probably continue to do so for generations and maybe centuries.

The songs are what made his operas famous. If you never got into baroque opera you might not be familiar with how simple the songwriting formula was then compared a lot of the opera that came later. Also he has good fugues but those really aren't the source of his fame. Just some of the movements in his suites and concerti (which are far more popular than any standalone fugue)

Are you sure you're not confusing Handel for Wagner? Handel in particular is famous for swapping individual pieces in and out of his greater works interchangeably like a greatest hits album. Many of his operas even reuse songs from previous operas with new lyrics.

It is why they're remembered.
people still buy recordings of Beethoven, Wagner, Chopin, and Tchaikovsky today, despite not having a lick of formal music education, knowing nothing about musical theory and being totally unable to intellectually appreciate any complexity in the composition.
But they remember the composers buy recordings of their music and listen to them... because they like the way it sounds, even as totally musically illiterate plebians.
That is how any metal or rock n roll artist will be remembered for generations as well. It'll have nothing to do with complexity (and you make me laugh trying to defend Louis Cachet's "music" to say it'll be remembered for complexity)
Black Sabbath will be remembered.
Buzum will be forgotten.

You don't need any sort of education to enjoy it. The effort and complexity put into those pieces can be enjoyed subconcioisly.
>That is how any metal or rock n roll artist will be remembered for generations as well.
They won't be, lol. Both Burzum and Black Sabbath will be forgotten within a few generations, as did parlor songs, vaudeville and minstrel tunes.
>>127148336
Even though it's not as formally cohesive as, say, Wagner, the tonal relationships are usually functional in operas. And besides all that, just a phrase in Handel's music has more complexity and more voices than modern pop songs.

Rock n Roll, and some of its bigger sub-movements like Heavy Metal, will be remembered a lot longer than parlor songs, it's been over 70 years since Rock n Roll started, and even if not a lot of new rock music comes out now, 60+ years is a bit long for a forgettable fad. Certain subgenres that enjoyed popularity for a few years will be forgotten but as a larger genre it won't be. Disco, New Wave, Grunge those will largely be forgotten
Heavy Metal as a whole won't be. Some subgenres that were briefly popular then fizzled into the background likely will be, but not the entire genre as a whole.

The best eras of metal were dominated by aggressive, angry, complex musicians that often got into fights and feuds and were highly volatile. When metal softened into try hard music for emotional males with a Funko Pop collection and an anime wife body pillow, that's when the genre went to shit.

Changes and F/X are the weak spots admittedly. I think their management were trying to get sabbath played on the radio, and that's why they wrote Changes. Rock ballads were big at that time.
Imo the production on S/T was the best of all of their albums, and that album was recorded in 8 days. The drum sound was better than paranoid or later albums, and it has a raw feel to it that later albums were lacking, like vol 4. MoR is also a fucking classic and doesn't contain a single bad song imo

>F/X
Oh yeah this one too, but I usually don't count instrumental/filler tracks like that when judging an album unless they're horrendously bad or really good so I didn't mention it.
>Imo the production on S/T was the best of all of their albums, and that album was recorded in 8 days.
If not S/T, then MoR. But I honestly have zero problems with the production in any of their first few albums, they all sound perfect. And that's what makes Vol. 4 and especially SBS sounding kind of hollow strange to me. You already HAD a template for what Sabbath should sound like, and it's not like you were even changing the style drastically so why bother fixing what isn't broken?
>MoR is also a fucking classic and doesn't contain a single bad song imo
Truer words have never been spoken, even the song I still think is the weakest (After Forever) I'd NEVER cut.

He has a point. But people are too caught up emotionally right now. Even I was initially. I have listened to Black Sabbath a lot. And some solo-Ozzy. But Ozzy was a deeply flawed person lets not forget that. My main gripe is his animal abuse.
The most hilarious replies are the ones who say Varg only has a career thanks to Ozzy and Black Sabbath. But Varg was never a metalhead. His biggest musical inspirations are not Metal. His favorite album is Disintegration by The Cure.
I can agree he timed this post badly though. People will just see him as disrespectful.
>>127145589
Just because early Burzum was somewhat inspired by Bathory (who was influenced by Black Sabbath to some degree) does not mean everyone who has at some point played amplified music since 1970 somehow owes everything to Ozzy forever.
Boomers only stumbled onto "pioneering" Metal. Gen X refined it and perfected it. Millennials killed it.
Ozzy and Black Sabbath did not consider themselves Metal either. They started out as a Blues Rock band before they had the idea to play Mars Bringer of War through an amp. Gustav Holst created Metal.

NTA but the other one, I just haven't gotten around to it. I'm very familiar with SBG and have checked Leprosy out before, and I loved both. I just don't listen to death metal often, more of a trad/power guy.

USPM to be more specific, I still have to get past the bare basics of EUPM lol.

What's your favorite USPM? I love tracks like Nightquest by Nightwish (is this one power metal?), Raise my Sword by Galneryus, Hunting High and Low by Stratovarius. But other than Angel of Salvation by Galneryus i've yet to find a whole power metal album that really did it for me.

Metal Church
RIOT (fuckin, thundersteel man)
early Fates Warning
early Queensryche
Manilla Road
Lizzy Borden
Savatage
Helstar
Hexx
Heretic
Crimson Glory (debatable whether they are)
Iced Earth (from the one album I've listened to, but their debut is really good)

I mean to clarify I still like Black Sabbath and some solo-Ozzy. I like Burzum too. But I also knew Varg would drop an edgy take on Ozzy dying. It is what it is. Political bullshit on both Vargs and the Osbournes end.
Varg still has a point but he should also choose these moments better.
