Ive been composing songs for years, always starting with the the guitar riff.
Yesterday, I tried starting with the bassline.

For me, vocals are key.
I just find more easy to create a solid foundation of desired sound to sustain my vocals with a bass rather than with a guitar.

Music prod is another beast on its own and each persons have preferred approach. But generally speaking from a pure listening experience vocals, drum, and bass sit on top but not all the time
