>>127149004There's a track off of one of DJ Khaled records where he brought in a bunch of Jamaican rappers/MCs/reggae singers (pretty big names imo). It stands out to me as a song so terrible it wraps around to being good again. It's practically avant-garde in its structure, a fever dream. It was obviously done by somebody who did it mostly by accident and with the help of studio engineers. There's a point in the (excessively long) intro where the Rastafarians are invoking their (excessively long) name of God, listing off the titles and what not, and the Jamaican ends it by yelling out "Rastafari." I shit you not, DJ Khaled interrupts it with "ANOTHER ONE" and "DJ KHALED."
It was floored when I noticed it. Unless he's doing some lowkey slimey muslim shit, which I don't think he is, he's so incredibly unaware of the basic tenants of religion least of all Rastafarianism. In some religions, practitioners are not allowed to say the name of God. It's taboo. It sure as hell isn't cool to interrupt the invocation of the Name of God with some spam narcissist soundbites. At that point, I had to assume DJ Khaled is probably the lowest IQ hip hop adjacent "artist."
Beyond that, the song is interesting in its own right, but not really in any good way. Makes me wish I could have been a fly on the wall for the recording. It absolutely oozes low IQ, if you know a little about what Khaled does.
