>Album 1: In the Airplane Over the Sea - Neutral Milk Hotel
I honestly don't understand how you can call this stuff music. It's garbage for the most part, that pretentious little faggots like to wave around symbolically to show that they're smart or better than you or more sophisticated or whatever. It has no meaning. Almost all the tracks can be summed up with two words - "amusing noise". What pisses me off are the vocals, they sound TERRIBLE, like a preteen with chlamydia. I would score it just a LITTLE higher if it was sung by literally anyone else. The lyrics make no sense, they really just sound like AI gibberish most of the time. The only decent and listenable track was the one title "[Untitled]", and not because it was good in any way, but because it was an interesting listen (and because it doesn't have any singing). But then the final "song" comes on and makes you want to just chuck this garbage into the "never listening again" bin.
2/10, honestly.
>>127158710 (OP)Most old /mu/core is not very good
You'll enjoy the crimson king album tho
>>127158710 (OP)Yeah, nearly any indie music from the late 90's onwards is going to be trash.
>>127158740>You'll enjoy the crimson king album thoThat one is overrated as well, but it's obviously better than any of the indie crap.
Also anything by Joanna Newsom is unlistenable screeching as far as vocals go.
>>127158969these fuckers must be deaf or ragebaiting. Whatever it is I agree with you, they should kys
the singing is good though???
i'm not convinced, you're not a good reviewer op
>>127158969>>127159014Not deaf, not rage baiting, you're just mad.
>>127159095The singing isn't good though. It has nothing to do with the lyrics, even the most vague and incomprehensible lyrics can be sung nicely. This, however, isn't it.
>>127159143how can I be mad when I have working ears and a working brain? I almost feel sympathy for you
Honestly, I can get it, even if I rated this album in 9.5/10. I felt exactly the same when I first listened to it. The vocals also seemed too broken and dancey to me. I'm sure I rated the album so highly because I idolized it (/mu core did his job)
I liked the lyrics. Yes, they are very abstract, but the album has two common themes: Childhood and WWII, and in particular the story of Anne Frank (I only found out about her thanks to this album, and I'm a little ashamed of it)
The lyrics seemed funny to me, especially those "cum-covered mountains". Yes, it is very specific. And yes, I think many "aesthetes" will show off that they understand the "genius" of this very niche album. I like the theme of war in culture, people reveal its horrors in different ways (Remember the album What's Going On, an absolute masterpiece)
Honestly, I listened to the album while reading the annotations on the site "genius". Yeah, it's not cool, but hey, I want to understand some things that I don't understand (recalls cum-covered mountains)
I also like the instrumental. I like the poor quality of it. Yes, I may be a shit eater, but at least I found something I liked
And yes, I agree, people are terribly overestimating this album. This negatively affects its listening, you either start to be terribly disappointed, or you start to convince yourself of its quality (At first I was wildly disappointed in The Money Store, and only then I understood the essence of the album and enjoyed it)
So, yes, I support your opinion and I completely understand it, even if my opinion is different
>>127158710 (OP)>the singing The singing is raw and emotional. Sorry it's too much for you.
>The lyrics make no sense, they really just sound like AI gibberish most of the time.I'm sorry you're illiterate and can't comprehend sentences more complex than "X is Y". Anyone who has read literature in his life (especially poetry) will love the lyrics.
>>127159276>I also like the instrumentalBesides the interesting at times sound, it's mostly audio slop.
>>127159289>The singing is faggy and dead.
>Anyone who has read literature in his life (especially poetry) will love the lyrics.lollmao even
>>127159378Imagine getting filtered so hard by this. If it's your first time listening to the entire /mu/core you're going to have a hard time.
>>127159413>filteredYeah, much like a pile of shit on your path forces humans to go around.

It's one of the worst styles of music. It's very off putting and makes me feel uncomfortable, I cringe internally and my stomach turns.
anyway i'm off to listen to the next album
>>127159526be sure to actually listen to it and don't post retarded opinions here next time
Post your top ten album, OP
>>127159526I just started listening to Radiohead for the first time 2 months ago. This is a great album. Should not be mentioned in the same breath as ITAOTS.
>>127159526I really liked Bends and Ok Computer, this album however, has never been for me.
>>127159557How many fucking newfags are here?
>>127159557agreed, first track already sounds better, despite being very experimental sounding.
>>127159570>Ok ComputerI've only listened to exit music and no surprises which were fantastic so I have good expectations :)
>>127159546he won't, he just a newfag redditor that thinks Sabrina Carpenter is a celebrity and thinks anything made before 2015 is boomercore and not worth his precious time

>>127159574Calm down. I just like to leave out famous bands/artists for myself to listen to in the future. Can't wait to get into Bowie and Caceau Twins next.
>>127159587>agreed, first track already sounds better, despite being very experimental sounding. It's a very good band. I totally get the hype with Radiohead, they did not disappoint.

>>127158710 (OP)I actually agree with OP, I'm more of a Bon Jovi livin on a prayer type of guy myself

>>127160211If everyone in the chart threads did this the world would be a better place. I canโt be bothered to listen to any slop made during the 80โs though
>>127160246> I canโt be bothered to listen to any slop made during the 80โs thoughThe 80s stuff on the chart is good, it's not the most popular stuff
in another timeline where this pretentious album didn't exist /mu/ would be obsessing over this pretentious & mentally ill one
>>127160211That chart is pretty much popular music from every decade
>>127160318Yeah bro, everyone was listening to Nico in the 60s, Joy Division in the 70s, Big Black in the 80s, Slint in the 90s, Panchiko in the 00s and Swans in the 10s
>>127160368You look at the chart and only pick artists you have heard of before.
Avoid anyone that didn't chart at least a top 40 hit if you want something moderately listenable.
>>127160428>Avoid anyone that didn't chart at least a top 40 hit if you want something moderately listenable. You're not special for listening to obscure shit lol
>>127160454I was agreeing with you.
My post was what someone should do.
Not what I accused you of doing.
>>127160505you're still a double nigger
>>127158710 (OP)ITAOTS is about old enough that there will soon be some wave of nostalgia where it's included and it will become trendy again
some late 90's stuff is already seeing nostalgia, so surely nostalgia for sea shanty indie and indie hipster shit in general will come soon
think about that, /mu/ old timers
>>127158710 (OP)Based, this album is a huge pile of shit. It only became a meme because the band members are convicted paedophiles.
>>127160211Can you just turn this into a Spotify playlist?
>>127161646Is he being accused of grooming a boy? I'll believe it if it was a boy but if it was some 18 year old whore I tend to not believe it. Regardless, yeah the albums sucks.
>>127161072you're still brown though
>>127158710 (OP)/mu/core, rymcore and fantanocore are all trash because it stems from wanting to be accepted, so they all have the same few albums in their topster that "music critics" jerk off over so each topster thread is just 50 pics of the same exact albums re-arranged. give up on that shit and grow your own music taste by using your own ears.
>>127161985btw
>>127160211 is exactly what i mean
"have my exast taste of music that fantano told me was good like pink floyd, magdalena bay, death grips, tame impala etc or youre a fake music fan unlike me"
>>127162011>he isn't caught up on the western canon>thinks he has the authority to tell anyone what to listen toYou normie philistines really crack me up
>>127162057seething /mu/core gatekeeper
>noooo you can't recommend people develop their own taste! they have to like the things I tell them to like!
>>127158710 (OP)Not sure why the fuck you think anyone should care about your opinion. Stick to listening to video game music or whatever the fuck, retard.
>>127162737pic related. Many such cases
>>127162906nothing says triggered normie more than a wojak in 2025
>>127160211Don't listen to any of this crap.
There's an awful lot of waffly pretentious trash on that list. Are there some good albums on there? Yes, but you want to discover that stuff organically, not off some autist's dream playlist.
With these kind of lists people end up skimming their way through 2000 albums listening to each one for maybe 30 seconds before ticking it off and jumping to the next one. It's like a homework assignment for autists where the challenge is to speedrun a couple thousand albums in order to recieve your /mu/ hipster credentials.
Mostly I don't like it because the people who shill these essentials lists see themselves as "tastemakers" and "cultural gurus" and other stupid shit like that when they're really just sad fat bastards with an unwarranted sense of self-importance and far too much time on their hands. Not the kind of people you want to take advice from.
And don't listen to me either. I'm just as bad as them, only much lazier.
>>127162106that entire chart is literally comprised of babies first "insert genre" classic. you're a genuine retard if you think people only like those albums because of /mu/ or fantano
>>127162951how tf am I triggered? You are retarded, sorry you had to hear it from here. Hope they find a cure for you tho
>>127158710 (OP)KEK, Try listening to "pink moon", one of the most overrated albums ever, I think only "to pimp a butterfly" manage to be even more.
>>127158710 (OP)>I honestly don't understand how you can call this stuff musicThat sentiment is pure fucking cancer for this board. I think you should fuck off and kill yourself
>>127158710 (OP)You niggers like corny music
>>127160211I don't trust any list that has nigger music in it
ITAOTS is literal radio pop, if you get filtered by it please leave /mu/ and kys
