I was trying out my new guitar, picrel with a buddy of mine and recorded her first notes. there's nothing quite like a virgin guitar, singing crystal clear while she still has all the tone, before it starts leaking out over time yknow. anyway let me know what you think. my buddy was on point with the rhythm part in the background too.

What’s the deal with Kiesel guitars?
You don’t just buy one you design it.
“Do you want gold frets? Multiscale neck? Roasted maple top with glow-in-the-dark inlays?”
I just wanted to play some chords, now I’m choosing wood like I’m building a yacht!
And every Kiesel player says the same thing
“It’s custom to me.”
Yeah? Then why do all of them look like a space alien and a lava lamp had a baby?
It’s not a guitar anymore it’s a personality test with strings.

So I order this Kiesel guitar, right? Custom built, made just for me.
Flame top, birdseye neck, gold hardware the works!
I'm thinking, "This is it! This is the one that unlocks my true potential!"
It shows up, I plug it in... and I still suck!
I thought it would change me /gg/
I thought I’d become Steve Vai overnight
Instead I’m just anon with a very expensive reminder that I have no finger strength!
And now I’m afraid to play it!
It’s too pretty! It just sits there, judging me…
like it knows I peaked at Smoke on the Water.

Be honest with me- I want a strat, I’ve been playing guitar on and off for years, but I don’t wanna spend a whole lot of money.
I’m currently trying to sell the Ibanez RG570. Great guitar, but I hate the term, plus it’s got fret buzz on the first string or 2 that I can’t seem to get rid of.
Anyway, I have this old late 2000’s Fender starcaster strat I got YEARS ago as my first electric guitar.
The fit and finish is not great, but I’m not sure if it would be worth making a project out of or if I should just buy like a squire or MIM fender.
What do you guys say that know a lot more about guitars than me?

There's a couple of ways. One is going one note at a time on every string (so where all the A's are, and then so on and repeat.
Another is to learn the basic scales, like minor and learn roles the different notes of the scales are around the neck, and go that way.
>And what exactly does memorizing this mean for playing guitar and making music?
If you're wanting to do nothing other than cowboy chords, or you're already don't have any problem improvising; Nothing. Otherwise it can help with coming up with. I never practiced soloing for a very long time, but practicing the same thing that helps you solo, also helps you when just writing.

Spent an hour today trying to hold a pick "normally" with just two fingers with the index curved in slightly and found I can pick single notes a lot more quicker and effortlessly but at the cost of strumming chords and power chords like a complete newbie, would you bother trying to unlearn 15 years of using a grip like pic related and basically start over? Or would you try and learn how to switch quickly between the two for different playing styles?

What’s the deal with punchlines?
You sit through the whole joke, waiting for that one magic word
and then it lands, and you’re like… that’s it?
It’s not a punch, it’s a gentle nudge.
Some punchlines don’t even make sense
“Why did the chicken cross the road?”
“To get to the other side.”
That’s not a joke, that’s a location update.
And comedians always pause before the punchline...
like they’re letting it marinate.
“I got on the elevator with a horse…”
(Pause...)
“And the horse said...‘wrong floor.’”
What?! What does that even mean??

I don't know how to say this. I work in the coal industry. I inspect mines and check safety protocols. Stuff like that. Last Friday I was checking oxygen levels in a mine in Oregon. I was alone. I entered the shaft elevator And took the long ride down. It got colder as I went deeper. I opened the yellow metal cage and stepped into the large cavern. I walked into one of the tunnels and heard something out of place. Sounded like a music box from a horror movie. Never been more creeped out. It stopped though. Like whatever it was heard me. And didn't want me to hear it. I crept along. A dark figure appeared at the end of the tunnel. I pointed my light. A large man, in a traditional pancho, light blue dress pants, and purple Nike Air Force ones, eyes closed. He was sitting in the padmasana position. A small case beside him. Before I could react, he spoke something in an unknown tongue. I told him I worked in the mine and he shouldn't be in here. So it seems, so it seem, he replied. His voice raspy and dreamlike. Sir what are you doing here. The same thing I would be doing anywhere, brother. He was massive. Arms like bands of iron. He clapped and it reverberated through the tunnel. "Understand?". He said to me. I nodded because I did. I realized. I want you to listen to what is about to happen. And I want you to tell the multitude of it. I felt an overwhelming sensation. Like a heavy blanket. And buzzing and tingling in my body. He gingerly opened the small case and took out a Cordoba ukulele. He played a cover of Ball and Chain by Janis Joplin that morphed into Ocean Eyes by Billie eilish. His voice blending with itself in the reverb of the mine shaft. I still wasn't sure if I was hallucinating, but as the last notes plinked, I could see he had tears in his eyes. And he said I was the recording. And I told him I don't have the strength to carry that. He told me you gotta live it. I never felt more safe. It's like he was there to protect me from myself.

Got a guitar a few years ago. Generic brand. Used but not destroyed. Tried to make music kind of what the dead Kennedys did. You know, Funland at the beach, chemical warfare, etc. I couldn't fix the guitar intonation. Sounds detuned. The neck is leaning forwards and I can't get it right. Time passed and after careless use it turned to shit. The whammy bar broke (stratocaster clone), it's missing a few screws, irreparable (the wood where the screws fit is crumbling). Also has a few hit marks on the body. The whole audio jack hangs out side. Do you thing a Luthier will feel bad or mad for showing this guitar? It's embarrassing, I used silicona to get the audio jack holder in place. Like a lot of silicona. Btw I think the reason I didn't make any progress is because my hands are smaller than average and the fact that I jerk off with the left hand lol. I rarely play anymore, just playing ramones songs. It's all I know to play and Let me say I'm not a fast player.

Kramer guitars (Assault for LP body/Striker for Strat body) are better these days than your no name brands and definitely worth it to get it if you need a whammy bar. Its really easy to speed up your playing, just do the spider-crawl drill as a warm up where you go 1-2-3-4 from the bottom, move it up a string and so forth in a spiralling fashion and then run it back again, you can also do this with power chords. Helps your fingers fly across the fretboard after a bit of training. Those guitars are also relatively cheap under $500 so I say definitely check them out instead.

not really they're either brass stainless nickel plated or chrome. all are corrosion resistant but he really only meant this for acoustics and it's a good idea for him because he lives in arizona. the soundboard of an acoustic grows and shrinks width wise so when it gets dry it is trying to get narrower but it's glued to the sides so the top splits in half

I just splurged hardcore. Ordered this from Japan, probably overpaid but now I’ll have a Strat, Mustang, Jazzmaster and Jaguar in Fiesta Red. Only the JM doesn’t have a matching headstock. I’ve always been more utilitarian about guitar choices but this past year I’ve really gone a bit ape with the collecting and it’s been reinforced because having such a wide selection makes me play so much more than I would otherwise.

Holding the pick properly is one of the easiest things you can do to near immediately improve your ability to play technical stuff. If you’re not playing high level material it doesn’t matter so much but past a certain point of difficult you will need to do hold the pick properly. With improper grip you won’t be able to pick as fast or fluidly and changing pick slant with be very hard. I don’t really find strumming harder with the right grip but if you really need to I guess you can switch between the two, I’d try to learn with the right grip first though.

a compressor reduces the dynamic range of your signal.
the threshold knob says "anything above this line gonna get pushed down"

the ratio is all "im gonna push you down this hard, get under the threshold, kid"

the level or output will say "aww, cute little quiet notes, put on these platform shoes so you seem taller"

some compressors will have a speed knob too, fast speed means the level is basically capped at a certain point and slow speed will mean it takes a second to kick in on loud notes so you can still have clear picking but held notes will be tamed

as a follow up, people use them for different reasons. if you set your threshold and ratio roughly in the middle and quick speed and adjust the output so the loudest strums are around the same level as when the pedal is off, you're basically just turning up the quieter notes only, giving more sustain but also boosting the noise from noisy pickups.

you can get natural compression from a soft pick as well. i saw an interview with nolly, he's talking about bass but it can apply for acoustic strumming too, if you use a really soft pick, then it acts as an analog compressor, stopping you from strumming too hard and making your notes more consistent when recording. he is super aspie about this sort of stuff though so your mileage may vary
