Pretty interesting specs for a MIJ. Alder body, mustang bridge, jumbo frets. Excited to compare it to my Vintera Jag which is pretty nice but I have a feeling this will be noticeably nicer. >>127279997They keep them artificially low by producing in cheaper countries rather than sticking to certain countries after their living standards go up, some guitar companies are greedy fucks.
>>127279997cnc machining is cheaper than ever. they're also using shittier wood but trying to mark it as exotic and cutting corners on labor. look at a guitar that is made using 1950s methodology they're like $10k

>>127280088True and at the end of the day a guitar is:

Made In USAโข
Sorry boss, I can't check the quality on that one, im on my union entitled break. Besides, my diabetes has ruined my eyesight so I'll just say it's good anyways and get my hard earned pay check sitting around pretending I'm doing work. Also we're going on strike next week to force you to increase our pay and benefits and give us longer breaks. Oh and I'm protected by the union so you can't fire me for doing a subpar job. See you in 15, boss.
>>127280033They're cheaper now than they were originally. Even in the US, if you adjust for inflation.
The price of a Strat in 1960 was $275
That's over $2900 in 2025 money.
The price of a Fender Am Pro, which is roughly they're "Standard model" is $1700 or so.
>>127280203Gibson neck breaks have always been a joke and why most people in Europe avoided buying one through shipping, not because Gibson was trash or they didn't have money, but nobody wanted that expensive guitar if it meant the neck would get smashed in shipping due to some Mexican mishandling the delicate packaging.
>>127280213weird that other guitar manufacturers dont have problems with that.
>>127280203This isnโt a MIA problem, it happens to Gibson copies from anywhere unless they alter the design.
>>127280225Its because most other guitar manufacturers don't have solid neck and angle of a Gibson guitar, bolt on necks are an industry standard elsewhere for cheaper models. Its literally just the angle of the neck.
>>1272797341. hear voices coming through the ambient hum at night
2. do what they tell you
I'm new to guitars, is there some sort of science behind why gibson necks can't help themselves from snapping?
>>127280271Just the weakness of the angle its cut at.
>>127280203it's not really the headstock angle or scarf joint as much as it is the truss rod channel removing 40% of the wood at the transition between the fretboard and headstock. look how little wood there is at the breaks
Got a TB-64, looks cool, sounds cool.
>>127280258>>127280284ibanez have angled headstocks and they dont have that problem
>127280173
Sorry didn't mean to trigger a polfag guys. I should've said MIJ which has been around even longer and hasn't changed much.
>>127280287They also have bolt on necks.
>>12728028711 degrees versus 17 degrees on the gibby. you're literally getting 50% more angle for your money on the american guitar
>>127280297how does that affect the headstock?
>>127280289> Muh /pol/fag am I doing it right chang sistsers?Tranny lol.
>>127280287Just the smallest degree can make a huge difference. Martin's and many acoustics have a slight tilt, but Gibson are usually a little bit more.
>>127280305You don't understand physics though? It lessens tension on it already and shifts the center of gravity, the bolts are basically supporting the neck itself and the built structure. Anyway. You will see less bolt on necks getting fucked naturally than through-body necks.
>>127280327that doesnt make sense. if i pull a piece of wood with a certain amount of force on one end, it doesnt matter if its bolted to another piece of wood or not the tension at that point is the same. the place where they're bolted though is a weakpoint that has a better chance to break before the solid wood does.
>>127280350That would depend it. The way the neck wood was cut and/or the grain pattern could contribute to instability. And at a thin point like where a headstock curve is, there's more risk. And I don't think Gibson uses quartersawn on all of their guitars.
>>127280350then why does it only affect solidbodies and not bolt on necks if they were otherwise identical? Right you can't explain it, bolts add support to it by taking off the tension.
>>127280384probably because if it was a tension related issue, the part where the neck is bolted to the body would break first
>>127280350Post the ibanez headstock. Not only will it be at a different angles like
>>127280303 saif it probably has a volute too.
>>127280395Plus bolt on necks always are better than solid-bodies in the sense that you can always get a replacement neck. More pragmatic and utilitarian anyhow.

>>127278336Sounds interesting. Don't want to play anything but the sound I describe, cheap guitar will do. Oh, yeah the spider exercise, my fingers are slow but I was referring to my strumming hand haha
>>127278374That sounds easy to do. Gonna give it a try. Any advise about the truss rod(i think it's called like that)? I read you need it to get a good intonation and adjusting the little things where strings rest (don't know the word for that).
Also, maybe I will pick up my guitar after fixing so I can battle my depressives episodes where I feel like doing nothing. No tv shows, no going outside, not calling friends, just feel life slipping away. I'll let you guys know when I pick the guitar again.
Oh and by the way, how much would you spent on gear to play shoegaze? Like I hear you got to spend thousands of dollars.
>>127280350honestly depends on how the grain is running. threads have an absurd amount of strength though because of the amount of surface area
>>127280472Any little annoyances with getting the right volts and wiring right outweighs digital still. Once you got that worked out, it's nothing. But digital is limited in how much you can run at once at their highest quality. The amp modeling+cab takes up a fuckton of cpu power. Then you're left with a handful of effects. Only the highest end units are generous. Any average consumer product hard limits what you can do at once.. or they throttle effects or the amps and they start sounding like shit when running at once.
>>127280494The spider crawl exercise will help with your strumming hand as well, just use power chords instead of single notes.
i find that if i slow down what im practicing by 20-40% and close my eyes and practice it entirely based on feel and sound alone, it helps me learn it a bit faster and with better technique.
do you always want to have a little relief on your guitar neck? i set mine perfectly straight but it's buzzing like a bitch

>>127280493---->
>>127280528I'm not a Boss hater though. I love their individual stompboxes.
>>127280583You're supposed to have the slightest amount of upbow. As much straight as you can get away with, but not completely straight. The string vibrates in a circular motion and needs clearance. At the same time, you want your upper neck to be easy for chords and barre chords (therefore a little upbow in that area), and the flatter feel on the rest of the fretboard for easier leads.
>>127280587Everyone from China/Reddit literally will hate on Boss for some reason (other than Japan/Taiwan whatever beef) and say its not the 90s anymore, to me they are just reliable budget friendly options.
>>127280585He hasn't done that one yet.
>>127280583.003"-.008" better guitars on the lower end, .0012" or so for a bass. if you don't have relief and the action is low enough they will buzz from string travel during vibration from the 7-12th frets. it's worse if you play harder or use lighter strings
>>127280609Err not circular motion. I guess a slight oval? Either way, it needs a little clearance.

>>127280856you can play the different scale positions in the same frets but play through the different key of the scale and its still in the same key because of the shared notes.
>>127280856a key is like the captain of a group of chords. a scale is just a particular set of intervals within each chord within a key. for example in the key of C major your V chord would be G major. you could chose to use any scale over the C or G or any chord in that key such as the major scale, the major pentatonic, minor, hungarian blah blah blah etc

>>127280972Calling someone a goober is nice. That kind of means they have hope in you. Not a complete retard..yet.
>>127280980Think of it this way:
> The last played note that brings it back to the original Key of your Scale makes it fit in that scale as long as its within the shape of the first position of 5-6 frets.
>>127280980Whatever note you are fretting with your index finger is the key.
>>127280980key can be any note from A to G sharp or whatever. key just tells you what chords will be where in relation to the key center (see pic). most blues are a 1-4-5 progression. so if i play a blues in the key of G, my 4 will always be C and my 5 will always be 5. it's just a roadmap to explain things more quickly. the chord progressions also line up with the respect major/minor scale intervals of the key center. intervalic distances and by extension chord progressions will generally have the same feel regardless of key center. that's why similar chord progressions and scales largely feel the same despite being in different keys
What's the difference between a humbucker and a single coil?
I've seen Fender Squier Sonic guitars with three single coil pickups, two single coil pickups and a humbucker, and an all-black one with just a humbucker in the bridge position. Which is best for playing metal?
>>127281073they'll all play metal but it's easier to overdrive and distort a humbucker because they have more output to begin with. they sound a little bassier and fuller because they can pick up a broader frequency range due to their size and magnetic field. they also don't generate as much background noise from electromagnetic interference
Why did Dicky Bets always seem so grouchy?
>>127281073You can play metal on anything, but everyone told themselves it had to be humbuckers. Humbuckers kill 60 cycle hum (single coils produce a slight background noise) and are generally hotter. That's why they choose it for higher gain. But the pickup is not the only way to get gain.
>>127281096The only reason to use a Humbucker instead of a singlecoil with metal is because it doesn't feedback like aids.
>>127281117Because he lost a good friend and knew he couldn't ever let him down a/gg/ain. He was locked in.
>>127281137Duane's playing makes me cry.
>>127281117He's the opposite of Syd Barret. And that's nothing against Syd. He was a cool cat for sure.
>>127281096>>127281124>>127281133So I deduce that the best one is the one with only the unbucker at the bridge, thanks for the explanation.
what's a good humidifier for electric guitars? all humidifiers i see online seem to be for acoustic guitars.
>>127281244Your choice. I like single coils more, personally. I'm not a metal guy though.
Not quite metal, but there are bands rockin it on single coils. Especially P-90s, but Fenders can work too. It's not impossible:

>>127282650oh i see. it's a modern RG, the original superstrat. what is there to misunderstand?
>>127282578Here you go. ONE example of a super strat manufactured by Matsumoku in the 80s, with a bunch of retarded carves in the top. As per your request.
A super strat is a Fender Strat with humbuckers.
>>127282677not the same. not even a superstrat. looks more like an SG that had a baby with a strat.
>>127282658Oh yeah he was saying that it IS a superstrat and that superstrats are modern and not actually a product of the 70s/80s
>>127282678i mean, that might count but the term doesn't refer to just one guitar.
people were hotrodding their strats, then companies started making them production models to meet demand.
>>127282697superstrat is the base
the difference in design that makes it a superstrat in this specific case is modern
Solo on Buckingham Green on that public access show was far out. I hear he likes a dry wine.
>>127282693Unfortunately for you it's a superstrat and it is the same. Cope with your mental gymnastics all you want. This guitar is spiritually an Ibanez btw.

Nigger blues anon gotta weigh 475 at LEAST
>>127282708eh, it's got parts like a superstrat but it's closer to an SG or a hagstrom in body shape. the "strat" part is missing
>>127282549None of them designed the superstrat
>>127282728True
Leo Fender designed the super strat
They all just put gibson pickups in it

>>127282821 just has the body carved evenly throughout, adding no interest to it's design. whereas
>>127282440 selective chooses carves based on ergonomics (the top left), and then following the curve along the outer edge to represent a sort of falling, off center face like a psychedelic trip while adding interest through accents.
>>127282871You own a Squier affinity, Ibanez is not going to fuck you
