Had instrumental music stayed relevant and as popular as it did in the 80-90s they perhaps would have kept experimenting. Newest invention that's still old as fuck that's become popular is the headless guitar trend.

Pretty interesting specs for a MIJ. Alder body, mustang bridge, jumbo frets. Excited to compare it to my Vintera Jag which is pretty nice but I have a feeling this will be noticeably nicer. The MIJ rosewood has been better quality in my experience so far, the Pau Ferro is my biggest issue with the Vintera.

True however Tele's unique sound comes from the clanky and twangy sound its pick ups make, perfect for certain types of music that utilize it. These can be emulated through an EQ pedal though to some extend.

True and at the end of the day a guitar is:
> Wood. (Cheap)
> Plastic. (Ditto)
> Some metals (likewise plenty cheap when its mostly just chrome steel etc.)
Its not as expensive as you may think to build a guitar from scratch hence you could assemble yourself a guitar for under $1k reasonably well from kits.

They're cheaper now than they were originally. Even in the US, if you adjust for inflation.
The price of a Strat in 1960 was $275
That's over $2900 in 2025 money.
The price of a Fender Am Pro, which is roughly they're "Standard model" is $1700 or so.

Gibson neck breaks have always been a joke and why most people in Europe avoided buying one through shipping, not because Gibson was trash or they didn't have money, but nobody wanted that expensive guitar if it meant the neck would get smashed in shipping due to some Mexican mishandling the delicate packaging.

it's not really the headstock angle or scarf joint as much as it is the truss rod channel removing 40% of the wood at the transition between the fretboard and headstock. look how little wood there is at the breaks

You don't understand physics though? It lessens tension on it already and shifts the center of gravity, the bolts are basically supporting the neck itself and the built structure. Anyway. You will see less bolt on necks getting fucked naturally than through-body necks.

that doesnt make sense. if i pull a piece of wood with a certain amount of force on one end, it doesnt matter if its bolted to another piece of wood or not the tension at that point is the same. the place where they're bolted though is a weakpoint that has a better chance to break before the solid wood does.

That would depend it. The way the neck wood was cut and/or the grain pattern could contribute to instability. And at a thin point like where a headstock curve is, there's more risk. And I don't think Gibson uses quartersawn on all of their guitars.

That sounds easy to do. Gonna give it a try. Any advise about the truss rod(i think it's called like that)? I read you need it to get a good intonation and adjusting the little things where strings rest (don't know the word for that).

Also, maybe I will pick up my guitar after fixing so I can battle my depressives episodes where I feel like doing nothing. No tv shows, no going outside, not calling friends, just feel life slipping away. I'll let you guys know when I pick the guitar again.

Oh and by the way, how much would you spent on gear to play shoegaze? Like I hear you got to spend thousands of dollars.

Any little annoyances with getting the right volts and wiring right outweighs digital still. Once you got that worked out, it's nothing. But digital is limited in how much you can run at once at their highest quality. The amp modeling+cab takes up a fuckton of cpu power. Then you're left with a handful of effects. Only the highest end units are generous. Any average consumer product hard limits what you can do at once.. or they throttle effects or the amps and they start sounding like shit when running at once.

You're supposed to have the slightest amount of upbow. As much straight as you can get away with, but not completely straight. The string vibrates in a circular motion and needs clearance. At the same time, you want your upper neck to be easy for chords and barre chords (therefore a little upbow in that area), and the flatter feel on the rest of the fretboard for easier leads.

key can be any note from A to G sharp or whatever. key just tells you what chords will be where in relation to the key center (see pic). most blues are a 1-4-5 progression. so if i play a blues in the key of G, my 4 will always be C and my 5 will always be 5. it's just a roadmap to explain things more quickly. the chord progressions also line up with the respect major/minor scale intervals of the key center. intervalic distances and by extension chord progressions will generally have the same feel regardless of key center. that's why similar chord progressions and scales largely feel the same despite being in different keys

they'll all play metal but it's easier to overdrive and distort a humbucker because they have more output to begin with. they sound a little bassier and fuller because they can pick up a broader frequency range due to their size and magnetic field. they also don't generate as much background noise from electromagnetic interference

You can play metal on anything, but everyone told themselves it had to be humbuckers. Humbuckers kill 60 cycle hum (single coils produce a slight background noise) and are generally hotter. That's why they choose it for higher gain. But the pickup is not the only way to get gain.

Your choice. I like single coils more, personally. I'm not a metal guy though.
Not quite metal, but there are bands rockin it on single coils. Especially P-90s, but Fenders can work too. It's not impossible:

Humbucker has no noise but it is WIDER, for best results consider stacked humbucker aka noiseless single.

the daddario gel bags are great at maintaining like 35-40% humidity and really easy to just slip between the strings. but if you live in an actually dry climate or have gas heat in your home you need a more heavy duty sponge type humidifier. i like the music nomad one with the built in hygrometer. keep it around 45%. but also look for signs of overhumidification like top or back bulging

You can do what you want. Avoiding hum is the hard part, but you're not limited to genres.
Besides, half of the oomph of metal is in the bassist and guitar chugging combo. Not the chugging alone. Everyone just wants to shit on bassists (me too sometimes), but they're crucial for a ballsy metal sound.

This was only true for fancy guitars like Les Pauls with their Burst finishes which aged differently the longer you held onto one for. Which I can understand the appeal for having something that ages with you and then selling to some collector somewhere. Same with White Strats that age into creamy yellow sort. Those are the only ones I've seen people getting hype for a lot.

but a superstrat.....its in the name. production guitars that are like updated strat designs. double cutaway, maybe 24 frets, maybe a floyd style trem. HSH or HSS pickups. the body carves are just a modern design thing

i mean, that might count but the term doesn't refer to just one guitar.

superstrat is the base
the difference in design that makes it a superstrat in this specific case is modern

Unfortunately for you it's a superstrat and it is the same. Cope with your mental gymnastics all you want. This guitar is spiritually an Ibanez btw.

wrong. >>127282821 just has the body carved evenly throughout, adding no interest to it's design. whereas >>127282440 selective chooses carves based on ergonomics (the top left), and then following the curve along the outer edge to represent a sort of falling, off center face like a psychedelic trip while adding interest through accents.
