Yes. Bob Welch was dedicated to musical excellence and for that, we should all be grateful.

Welchbro reporting in. Always start the morning with a good Bob Welch tune! It will bring light and life into your day.

Absolute classic.

One of his best, imo. Such a nice, smooth groove.
My pick of the day:

I love the jazzy, mystical vibe of this highly underrated FM tune. Bob's guitarwork on this album is phenomenal, not to mention all his other excellent contributions.

Welch-Mac was so much better than what followed it’s not even funny. Bob wrote mystical songs about intriguing concepts like the Bermuda Triangle, once he left all the songs were about who Stevie Nicks was fucking (spoiler: EVERYBODY)

Love the subtle jazzy feel of
So many of the Welchster’s Fleetwood Mac compositions. So much more tasteful than Stealy (steal, as in they were ripping Bob off) Dan

His 1981 self titled album is shit, especially compared to his previous and successive works.

Honestly the blunt smoking on that cover grossed me out for years. The cheese pizza on the Fleetwood Mac albums still does. That may be why his F.Mac years are overlooked... the Mystery to Me cover is kinda gross too. Love the music tho.

His esoteric/paranormal interests are very apparent in songs like Hypnotized (the "place down in Mexico" is a reference to Carlos Castaneda's Don Juan), Revelation, Bright Fire (several alchemical references, including "dust and the green magnesium fire"), and Night Watch (very clearly about UFO activity). He did remote viewing at the Monroe Institute, and he was a fan of guys like Terence McKenna and Bill Cooper. His absolute fucking mess of a website was always cluttered with UFO conspiracy nonsense.

I wonder if this was self-conscious or intentional on his part to look so crazy. He apparently did have a lot of mental issues, perhaps stemming from the same incident that turned Peter Green loony. They did a bunch of LSD at this weird commune in Germany. I think Kirwan did spend a lot of his later years homeless. The pre-Buckingham/Nicks Fleetwood Mac actually has more interesting lore than the famous Rumours-era drama we all know about.

There are naked children on 2 Fleetwood Mac covers. It was a different era from Blind Faith to Nirvana Nevermind. One thing i'm happy has changed about le current era is no more of that shit.

True.

I have mixed feelings about it in that I guess the hypersensitivity towards naked children in art is a side effect of our society taking child sexual abuse more seriously, which is obviously a good thing overall. On the other hand, nakedness in general in art doesn’t always have a sexual or pornographic intent. In this era specifically, I think the naked children were meant to represent childhood innocence, a return to nature or the garden of Eden, that sort of thing. I have no reason to believe the ‘Mac of that era were a bunch of pedos

I say you're right. Future Games - makes sense to have some children depicted - who have the promise of the future ahead of them. hardly seems pedo to me especially since they're playing in the water and wouldn't be fully clothed

my song of the day:
Sentimental Lady
A 1977 recording, the most well-known version of the song, was a solo hit for Welch when he recorded
it for his first solo album, French Kiss, which was released in September 1977.
The first single released from the album, "Sentimental Lady" reached the top 10 on both the U.S.
Pop and Adult Contemporary charts.
-----
Mick Fleetwood also played the drums for the song on Welch's 1977 album.
The re-recording of it featured Christine McVie and Lindsey Buckingham as backing singers and producers
(with Buckingham additionally doing the arrangement as well as serving on guitar), but unlike the
original which had two verses, Welch's solo version only had one verse to cut it down to less than
three minutes for the final radio cut. The solo recording also has multilayered guitars played by
Lindsey Buckingham, who recorded the guitars at half speed.
He then sped up the recording so that the guitars would sonically resemble a harpsichord/music box.
The solo version also contains counterpoint vocals arranged and sung by Christine McVie.

Bob had nothing but respect for every member of Fleetwood Mac. As far as I know, he never had an unkind word to say about any of them, even when he was snubbed at FM's induction into the RRHOF.

Bob’s solo version is an interesting blend of two different eras of Fleetwood Mac. I still think I prefer the Bare Trees version though
