they were on a roll with deep cuts/silent shout. everyone forgot about shaking the habitual (which was borderline /mu/core when it came out) but that one's ok too.

High school poem is a really good song and probably the only other song from the knife (other than heartbeats) that I like

One of my favorites. Absolutely sublime. Royal Teeth do a good version too.

Just in case someone hasn't heard the Jose Gonzalez cover: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ik_BQYbbZ5U

The Knife makes bangers. Newer stuff is a bit too esoteric for me though.

I like the Jose Gonzalez version. You know you have a good song when it still works in a super barebones arrangement in a completely different genre.

Wow that was much worse. Vocals sound great bit the new bass line is garbage and the keyboard arpeggios running the entire time completely washed our the studio versions intricacies . Massive disappointment

Agreed. They have that Scandinavian sensibility for melody while being a bit experimental and it works here.

I'll add further the chord switch primarily from the bass during the chorus is much crisper and more impactful in studio but it was practically buried in that live version. Everything besides the vocals I liked from the song was lost

Tried to show the song to my music buddy and he looked up the artist and came back saying
>groups too progressive for me
Now I'm actually a major chud who was on trump train back in 2015 and back then he was triggered at me for being that way and suddenly he's got bigger conservative convictions than me since like 2023 to the point where he won't check out an artist because of politics. Frankly I was impressed, I'll pretty much listen to good music no matter what it's the core of my existence

The next step is realizing that artists are neuro-atypical by nature and their political opinions are worthless. People were tricked by big business to give a shit what artists think because they push what the ruling class wants.
