Metal drifting off from rock and branching out was inevitable. If genres were up to you, every rock band would be stuck playing Chuck Berry riffs. Incredibly limiting, it would get old very fast.
What is the common mindset behind this pleb take anyway? Rock/heavy metal geezers, stoner dorks, punks, progfags, and classical snobs all whinge about metal for one reason or another, and to no end. I like those other genres and more, but they all have problems that metal solves, and I could drop a lot of them for metal easily. I'm kinda fascinated by the sheer scope of the seethe and mass-filtration.

Do you mean grindcore and not "grindgore" btw? Few people have ever said "grindgore" as more than a synonym for goregrind. I would not agree on "totally distinct" but I could see his point with grindcore vs goregrind. Goregrind and deathgrind are primarily metal and secondarily hardcore, while most grindcore is the inverse.

He's just a jazzfag (probably not a classicalfag, a lot of them hate jazz) mad that most people listen to "pleb" (more accurately post-pleb for genres like metal) music instead of his calcified genre.
Most Zep, probably most Gaye, and some Floyd and Slayer are borderline if not explicitly pop-tier, though.

Funny thing is I'm the 'this guy' you're talking about and I'm also a huge metalfag lol. I just think a lot of the differences between, say, metal and alt-rock are more stylistic than substantial if that even makes sense. Like half of metal songs simply stop sounding like metal if you change the melody to be major scale. How strong are the lines between Morbid Angel songs and motown hits? Surprisingly thin (or that's my uneducated opinion)
Just listen to Faith No More covering Lionel Richie. They sound great and they didn't have to overcome any stylistic barriers really

The term “track” originates from the grooves of a gramophone record, from the fucking 1800s. As in the physical TRACK the needle follows to produce the song. I can’t stand people shitting on other people when they don’t even know what they’re talking about.

Also “song” only refers to tracks with singing. Instrumentals aren’t songs :^)

Its both. And the title track only gets kind of bluesy towards the end during the uptempo part. And Sleeping Village is basically a Vashti Bunyan track slowed down+reverb with Ozzy on vocals. Not A Bit of Finger mind you. Thats the amplified part. But rather the beginning of that track with Ozzys moody vocals. They messed up the titling for that track. It should be Sleeping Village/A Bit of Finger not the other way around.
