ITT: bands people grow out of
>>127323406 (OP)I still enjoy their early catalogue.
>>127323406 (OP)I can't list all Pop Punk bands in history
>>127323406 (OP)Green day is one of those bands you grow out of at 14 but come back to at 28. Like nirvana
System of a down. The music itself is okay but the vast majority of their songs have terrible lyrics that just make you roll your eyes because of how profound they're trying to be, especially their 4 of 5 songs about Iraq
>>127323578not to mention their awful goddamn vocalist
Pretty sure Simple Plan literally had songs about being grounded
Blink 182
My Bloody Valentine
>>127323406 (OP)any non-classical will eventually be grown out of
>>127323578>caring about lyrical qualityunless the singer is at the level of repeatedly singing "pee pee poo poo" it doesn't matter
>>127323660well yeah they made the Scooby Doo theme what did you expect
>>127323578I agree that some lyrics are bad, but I personally don't let the lyrics spoil the song for me, specially with Scars On Broadway, which has some terrible lyrics.
>>127323767I grew out of all of these. Damn
>>127323787me too. it's quintessential teenager music, for better and for worse.

>>127323578they did get a bit s00per srs at the end there, didnt they?
fair play imo. bush era was a fucking neocon nightmare. im actually shocked that wasnt just the end of it all outright
great players tho
they had the "fun" that so many of their nu-metal contemporaries lacked
they werent afraid to go full circus on you in the middle of a heavy song. you dont usually see such a large band on a major label taking risks like that. takes balls to goof off that hard at the top lvl
bravo
desu i could still listen to even the first bands i used to listen to
blur, SOAD, modest mouse, fugazi, coheed, fall of troy, metallica, rush, interpol, at the drive-in, ramones, innumerable random punk bands, etc
put on any of those old albums i used to listen to rn, and id still be stoked
>>127323406 (OP)All of them. One day you die and then they've outgrown you.
>>127323776Their music is ass but that one song is great
>>127323660Good charlotte comes dangerously close to simple plan territory
>>127323776>Whats up Scooby Doo what the fuck are you we gonna solve the mystery i see you scooby do we lunch at after noon what the scooby dooooooo>Nanananana Nanananna Nanananananana Nanana Nananana Nanananana Nana>Scooby DooooI always pulled my pants down when that song was blasting on TV
>>127324186I still pull my pants down and start cumming uncontrollably everywhere when that song comes on. It isnโt often as itโs an old show, but this one time these Gen-Zers were playing it at the mall and yep. Became a splash zone
>>127324081Only because they overplay their music. Then they grow back into it after a few years. It's happened to me a few times.
I grew into Bob Dylan's music when I was twenty two and grew out of it when I was twenty five. I will never forget how proud of myself I was when I first heard Blonde On Blonde and liked it. I thought, look at me, I'm a fucking genius. So I put a few more albums of his that I like in my library (this was shortly before the streaming age.) One time, when I was twenty five, I had my entire music library on shuffle, and I realized that the only songs that came on that I didn't like were all by Bob Dylan. I'd be really enjoying something and then hear this dirty, stinky old music. So I deleted everything I had by him and the problem was totally solved.

I've been listening to Green Day since 1994.
Anyone remember Incubus? Thats a band that went so tame its like they disappeared never to be heard again.
>>127327287>I deleted Bob DylanFeels like Bob Dylan shouldnt even made it to mp3
Growing out of music is performative. Being in touch with your younger self is healthier
Tool. And Iโm the first to defend them and I still listen to undertowโฆ but some of there songs scream young person.

Was very affected by that track because when I was a little kid I decided based on nothing that it was about Kurt Cobain.
>>127330319Growing out of music is the opposite of performative. ~Pretending~ to grow out of music is performative. You kids still need that intro to English.
>>127323406 (OP)Radiohead, I like some songs still but they are NOT the greatest band of all time, not in million years
>>127323406 (OP)like 7 albums and not a single good song
Baby's first black metal band.
>>127331212I grew into metal. I thought it was shit as a teen when I was into pitchfork slop but then I went to an Incantation show in my 20s and it was the best show I'd ever been to.
>>127323406 (OP)was into this cause my mom listened to it
>>127323406 (OP)Most people, except a very particular type, grow out of Weezer.
>>127335719People don't really grow out of Weezer but they insist that the album Weezer put out when they first got into Weezer is the last good one they ever made.
>>127323417Yeah, I liked American Idiot as a teenager but I said fuck it and went through the discography after Saviors came out. First 4 albums are genuinely fine.
>>127335875Only the albums after And Justice for All.
>>127323406 (OP)When you grow out of something, you never really liked it to begin with
>>127338615Not true. You might revisit it and have a newfound appreciation for it you might not have had at the time because you're older now and have a different perspective, but your tastes and wants might change and shift over time.
I listened to pantera and metallica every day, non stop, in highschool but I eventually started listening to other stuff. They're still good but not my daily listening now
>>127323578SOAD were playing at a festival a few years ago, while there some random people were telling me i'm a fool for wanting to watch Sum 41 over them because they're apparently this "once in a lifetime" band that people need to see.
If I don't care for the music then I'm not going to watch them over a band I do like the music of.
>>127323406 (OP)i would say that most people SHOULD grow out of them but don't
