i still wonder why they didn't become bigger

image sucked, crue and gnr did better in looks department but Don's voice is really nice. He sounds like Michael McDonald

Their image wasnโ€™t the issue so much as the lyrics. They wrote a lot of love ballad/rocker songs where GNR was about drugs and alcoholism. Iโ€™d argue George Lynch was a better guitarist than Mars or Slash

He's different from Mick and Slash
Lynch is in Rhoads, Demartini, EVH field. They all have this heavy yet tasteful playing with cool fat tone

I agree about ballad stuff. They are very melodic. Even rocker songs like Hunter or heaven sent have this mellow dreamy vibe

Remember loving walking at night blasting dokken. Peak night music

>sweet child
>patience
>dont cry
>november rain

dream warriors is better than any GNRs song

Lynch had the tone of a chainsaw and was a riff machine. Criminally underrated guitar player. His solos are so dramatic without being over the top.

gnr got popular because sweet child o mine, a ballad. dokken, when they gave a fuck, were heavier than gnr, they also had a song about aids. they could have probably exploded in 89-90 had they not broken up

so hard to get an HS shredder guitar. Lynch's guitars are perfect spec but the finishes are retarded and playing another man's signature is GAY

Lee
Demartini
Lynch

Lynch is great, especially during the Wicked Sensation era, but he isn't as tasteful as Warren or Jake. He always overdoes it a bit. Warren and Jake always had this killer vibrato going on that George didn't and they knew when to play fast and when not to. Jake was particularly creative when it came to chord voicings and signature licks. Plus he did it all without a bar.

Who the fuck do you know in 2025 that would even know or recognize if you played a gig with the kamikaze guitar? If anything people would bug the shit out of you to find out where it came from not give you grief for playing an 80s hair metal signature series guitar. Get real
