There's something really gentle, generous and energetic in Leonard Cohen's music, despite the obvious depression. Especially in the female backing voices.

His music saved me so many times now, that he became my canary in the coal mine. Whenever I notice I start listening to Cohen, I go out, meet people, do sports, eat better, get a haircut, shower and feel better.

It’s strange. I don’t know why I still come here. I don’t enjoy listening to music that much anymore cuz of anhedonia and bad meds. The buzzing silence as I lay in the dark is the soundtrack of my suicidal ideations.

I learned to use a proxy for pleasure. You only need one person in your life for this to work, but they have to understand what you're about. Could be a gf/bf/wife/bff. Anyone so long as they don't insist on asking you why you aren't having fun.
That is a tall task for sure, finding even one person like that. But you force yourself to take them places and do things that they enjoy and you can watch them enjoying it. It's a good feeling by proxy and it can really work if you keep at it.

My best friend growing up, one time he cried on me at the park after weed, told me he was depressed. I reacted badly because I was too and it was too much for me to see him like that. We made up all was good and we grew apart, I moved far away. Got a message after years he told me he broke up with his long term gf. We talked and I really wanted to catch up with the dude in person. One time I left him on read and sometime later he took his my life. I should have at least called him. Man he was such a sweet dude, the sweetest. And honestly a fucking good looking dude, an easy 9 no homo but he never fully believed it
