I feel like its one of those things where a band plays for years and makes a bunch of songs, then lands a deal, and all their best shit gets the studio treatment. Then they have to cook up another album from scratch out of nowhere and it pales next to a collection of the best of the best over years when they were hungry and trying to make it, so they brought their A game to every effort
I don't know if that's actually what happened here, but it sure feels like it.
