its last peak was in the 2010s, ever since the 2020s started its really hit a wall. all the young up in coming rappers like lil peep, xxxtencion, juice world, etc either died, went to prison, or flopped into irrelevancy. Now rap is stagnant. its main guys are in their 40s, kanye is almost 50 fucking years old and we are still talking about him. kendrick and drake beef was the only thing that happened with hip hop this decade.
right now rap/hip hop is in a similar spot to rock music in the 2000s, its just coasting in zombie mode till it finally dies. i see rap dying fully around the mid 2030s
