It's the same thing that happened when his generation was growing up in the 16th century, how dare the lute become an obsolete instrument is something his parents thought! This will happen in time, we will get old, wonder what the fuck is the newer generation listening to and how music is crap. This pattern will keep going forward each generation.

This is a very modern mentality that we project onto past eras, since modernity accustomed people to seeking novelty in ever-new currents and products

Boomers were half assed degenerates that thought amplification and electronics made them look creative.
Gen X took it in more interesting directions anyway. Boomers did not create Dungeon Synth for example.
What happened was millennials and their complete cultural and creative bankruptcy. But now everyone blames zoomers instead.
Its just the mainstream thats even shittier right now than it has always for the most part been. So no. Music is not dying. Pop slop is.

Its funny to me how boomers live in this idiosyncracy of being liberal snobs towards pre-boomer music yet also being conservative snobs towards post-boomer music. As if only they mattered. In actual truth they mattered little creatively. And their few accomplishments are overshadowed by all the slop even that would inspire.
Nothing pisses me off more than this whole the whole world needs to stop immediately phenomenon as soon as some famous boomer dies.

Modern pop is way simpler than in prior decades - it's shorter, lyrics are less complex, chord progressions are simpler, it's more focused on hooks, etc. It's basically become totally commoditized, there was a book on it about 10 years ago. This may be changing though. I read an article that songs are actually starting to get longer.

Get over yourself, boomer. Pop was always slop. That its sloppier than ever right now should serve as a wake up call to what this CIA circus music always was. But no. Not just boomers but a lot of gen x and millennials too feel like they have to retreat back to their youth and wallow in the pits of nostalgia. Pathetic.

rick's a massive faggot cus he never tries to listen to anything he might actually like. all he does is check spotify top 10s and ignore the existence of anything else. everything is negative, nothing promotes positivity other than when he talks about the past. effectively he's part of the problem of modern music. i guarantee he'd nut from pic related, one of the best rock albums of all time which came out ~5 years ago, one which could use some exposure in west from someone in his position, but he'll never even know it exists.

He is correct. Music HAS become worse.
>Why have your ratings of rock album steadily declined over the decades?
>It is unfair to compare an album of the 1960s with an album of the 1990s (or, worse, later). In the old days it was expensive to make an album, hence musicians would make one only when they had a lot of material and could select the best of the best. The vast majority of their output was left unreleased. As the cost of making a disc decreased, musicians started releasing everything they compose. Inevitably, the average quality of an album has decreased.
>When a new genre/style/discipline is created (as it was in the 1960s), pretty much everybody is doing something original and influential that will be remembered for decades or centuries. The generations who come afterwards are not as lucky: whatever they do it is likely to evoke something that was already done a generation or two earlier. Therefore their output sounds less exciting to the listeners of the previous generations.
>Combine these two points and you get the explanation to why you don't hear a 9/10 anymore these days.
It is not even clear why there should be albums at all anymore. In the age of the download, why should artists release music in units of roughly 45 minutes? Just because in the 190s that was the format that made sense for the technology available at the time (the 33 RPM long-playing record)? It will eventually become meaningless to rate an "album" because the "album" in most cases is just an artificial marketing tool. Very few "albums" are designed to be such (and they are usually called "concept albums"). The main reason to still group songs together is that they are recorded at the same studios during the same period by the same group of musicians. That too is likely to change in the age of digital recording.
Prove this fucking wrong. You can't
