I only have 9 albums I can truly call a 10/10, I can't even bother to check the album recs anymore, because 8 times out of 10 they suck, most music feels so mediocre. I don't get how someone can have 20 or more 10/10 albums, standards too low ?

The exact opposite is true. Getting older should mean broadening your horizons and learning to enjoy and appreciate an increasing variety of music. If you’re narrowing your tastes and hating more then you’re not growing, you are decaying.

After listening to about 15 thousand different artists and over 300k songs I can confidently say 99% of music is derivative and recycled. I got into music at a young age and tried to absorb as much of it as I possibly could. The truth is just that most artists are generic, and there’s no reason to explore as deeply once I got older.

Lol, sort of. You realize a lot of it is unremarkable, even if you fill some time listening to it. Probably a big part of why tastes become stagnant even among musicheads. The latest thing everyone is geeking out about is more often than not just some second rate repackaging of better music.

I've always been open to give any musician of any genre a chance because I believe every artist must have something interesting to say. Though as I get older I'm getting lazier on checking the "new" things out, or any other recs for that matter.

Dude, The Used debut album was mind-blowing amazing to me, I'm not going to pretend it wasn't, I've already listened to close to 300 full albums, and in part to somewhere close to 2000. I agree that their later albums were weak in comparison though, a 72-80. Btw, which albums are those 7 ?

The only "filler" on Ziggy is "it ain't easy", but it isn't a "bad" song, and the filler in The Wall are 1:30 long, more like an interlude between amazing songs (and you could just ignore) all Absolution songs are either amazing, or good. They are the closest thing to albums that contain only good songs IMHO.
