what do zoomers brought to the table?
Boomer have all the great rock bands.
gen X had grunge, nirvana, smashing pumpkins.
Millenials had nu metal.

I'm not talking about a particular music genre, in general, what did zoomers brought to /mu/ table?

Which was made by late Gen Xers? Millenials "blessed" us with Taylor Suck and Kendrip.

I don't intend to blame a generation for a genre or a band, I think you could do that with any generation. I legit don't know what zoomers brought to table, it seems they only have mumble rap and trap, which is just a degeneration of rap

funnily enough the zoomer list is rockier than the millennials' (Maneskin are more rock than Imagine Dragons) though that's misleading because these euro-centric acts are advantaged on Spotify, overall they and Zara Larsson would be replaced by Lil Tjay and NLE Choppa

for some reason Zoomers refuse to make popular music, most zoomers i know are either in their local noise or hardcore scene.

Almost nothing. Anything that isn't a continuation of what late Millennials were doing is either shitty net genres like HexD or Ambient Plugg or mainstream hip hop. We haven't brought shit.

The fact there is a hardcore scene is news to me honestly.

Emo rap created by early zoomers who grew up with nu-metal, post-hardcore and post-punk of the 2000's.

>The fact there is a hardcore scene is news to me honestly
Hardcore has become popular around 2015-2016, thanks mostly to rhythm games popularity at that time. osu! was at its peak at that time. Dunno about today.

A lot of the 2000s band like The Fall Of Troy was made up of Millennials. There was also a strong amount of emo bands in the Late 2000s and early 2010s that were pretty decent.

These lists are very simple-minded.
It never happens that one generation lives in complete isolation from the previous and everyone waits until they grow up to have music made by their own generation. We didn't wait until after 20 to get music made by other millennials, this is dumb.

When I was a kid (millennial), I listened to Metallica, Nirvana, GNR, Slayer, Prodigy, Portishead, Tricky, and so on. I didn't wait until I got my millennial music made by millennials, fuck off with these fenced off abstractions.

My generation's music spans multiple generations. Our best music was made by GenXers, people on the cusp of being millennials (like the Strokes, or Crystal Castles), then much less by actual millennials. This has always been the case until recently. The previous generation made music for the current.

It's only recently that the barriers to entry for music making have been lowered so much any shiihead with a DAW and Bandcamp account can shit out 20 vaportwave albums per year. That's how it became possible to have one generation already listen mostly to their generation's output.

That wasn't the case for us. Back then, if you were a teen, you listened to music made by people 10 years older than you.

This obsession with freshness and youth and staying strictly within the confines of your generation for fear of being seen old is a zoomer thing

Far as I'm concerned, Zoomers includes everyone of music making age born after 2000.
AZALI is quite interesting (and you can just tell) though he was handicapped by the weekly release schedule into putting out alot of low effort low inspiration slop. But his style is imo quite unique and sometimes quality. And there's been some interesting stuff to come from the people copying him.
Brady Snapp's entire content premise is really cool though it's extramusical. No consistent style since the point is kinda to be a chameleon, but on his independent tracks you see some consistency. Not that it would be bad otherwise.
I think I've praised mk.gee enough. If he was a stock I'd invest in him going mainstream. Easy rec for anyone who can stand anything pop-adjacent.
There's more too but this ain't bad. My purview into the current waves of music is super small, as it has always been anyways.

Of course not.

I'm not playing talent scout, pretending to encourage people in youtube comments.

It would have to be really good.

They have to figure it out, rather they'll be a one hit flash in the pan, or not.

If they're good and they stick with it, they'll get somewhere, provided they don't do something stupid and sound great.
