No, the obligatory GD thread is where a guy posts a long wall of text about how he doesn't understand the appeal and is incapable of moving on.

It's weird how the people who don't like this band fixate on them so much. It's like they hate the idea of them and are mad that they have good songs.

China–>Rider is GOAT yeah, but I've always been most partial to Box of Rain and Saint Stephen–>The Eleven, so those two would be my favourites I guess, alongside Truckin as my 3x#1s.

China>Rider is their best consistent jam into another (same with stephen>eleven or the other one>eleven) but gotta say when they do the unexpected jams, that's where that extra magic lies.

74’ and 77’ are peak Dead. There’s no way you’re not a fan of at least one show during that time period. I don’t believe that, whatsoever.
Anonymous No.127369272 >>127369318 >>127369389

In my humble, if contrarian, opinion – '70 & '90 are their two peaks.
Anonymous No.127369318 >>127369389 >>127369454
>>127369272
Hmmm…Interesting take. Both years are peaks, for sure, but are so wildly different from each other that the comparison between the two don’t make sense to me.

Specifically, late 89’-Spring 90’ is the truly last amazing run they had. You don’t like early Brent at all? I just can’t compute that.

best is 70s till the break after winterland closing, then 76-78, then yeah spring tour 89-90, even could shoot some 91 shows out there.

fav keys were keith and brent for me, two totally different vibes too. pen is his own thing and of course hes a legend in his own right, have always wondered what the band would of sounded like if he got down with the ac!d

of course theres gems all across the board, even up to the end. jerry's last so many roads hits the heart in an insane way.

'73 and '74 were their best years, but '73 is the absolute pinnacle. I feel like everything they played from 1976-1995 was an attempt to recapture the energy that they had in '73 and '74.
Anonymous No.127369454
>>127369318
Yeah yeah 89 is included in that too but then I'd might as well have added 68 and 69 in there too.
Anonymous No.127369727 >>127369929
>>127369417
Also an interesting take. 74’ is truly the better overall year out of the two, in my opinion, but I understand where you’re coming from. There’s so much insanity in 74’, it’s just mind-blowing. All of those long ass PlTB’s, MLB jams, Dark Stars, WRS etc. are fucking nuts. Just my two cents, of course.
