His brain is busted beyond belief. It's like all of his energy came from cigarettes and now that he's stopped smoking he's a half conscious mess. Every new project is like a degraded and more lethargic version of This Old Dog. That record at least did a good job at balancing his downtempo sound with his more upbeat spirit. Then he released Here Comes the Cowboy. Everything about that album was lazy. The song titles, the artwork, the music videos, and the tired musical style that was already explored on This Old Dog. Except this time it was bereft of the good songwriting. It's just extremely chilled out and soporific little ditties. Quite forgettable. That laziness has since somehow been dialed up even more. Five Easy Hot Dogs didn't even have lyrics and put me to sleep. Ever since then I have refused to fully listen to his projects. He just doesn't care at all anymore, and not in a badass way. He's creatively rotting. This is what it sounds like when an artist completely runs out of steam. He claims to be more comfortable, well-off, and healthy now. But he seems severely mentally diminshed. If he had died in 2017, it would have been for the best. Because he basically did.
