/xxr/ - Extreme/Experimental Rock
Intestinal Excrement edition

A thread for extreme, abrasive, technical, progressive, or experimental rock-based music.
This means metal, hardcore, experimental rock, noise rock, and others.
Music that is mainstream, "alternative", novelty-driven, "proggy" but not progressive, or not primarily rock, is discouraged.
>Is [genre/band/album] fit for /xxr/?
If you have to ask, it's probably not.

This is insanely heavy for 1967. Sweden was on some good shit in that era

Cool find. Reminds me of L'infonie's second album. It also sounds like a very embryonic version of something like Lightning Bolt. Obviously the two bands have a lot of differences, but they share a similar use of the guitar to create a certain noisy, droning wall of sound that's persistently barrelling ahead.

>The whole album is a beautiful mixture of progressive rock and black metal with thrashy riffs thrown in the mix for good measure.
>One minute you are getting pounded in the head with old school thrash riffs inspired by the early genre giants while Archon (vocals) screams out the lyrics in true black style, in the next minute you are being soothed with the emotional and 60-70's style breathtaking guitar works.
This could be genre trail mix slop, but I'll try it.

The album is very traditionally speed/thrash-oriented, not what I would call extreme metal, but it's a solid album. It leans a lot on retro prog sounds and middle eastern scales, which here I sometimes like, and sometimes wish Vorskaath would wrap it up and get moving.
Better at weaving genres together than I suspected though.
