Because no one likes jazz other than a small group of boomers and gen Xs, and some millennial hipsters. As far as who could save it from complete irrelevance? Lady Gaga is the only one that comes to mind, but that mostly because she’s a weirdo who unironically loves jazz and has actually had vegas residencies that made a shitton of money where she did nothing but perform jazz numbers, so clearly the jazzfags accept her somewhat. Whatever the case, it’d be career suicide, so I don’t think she would actually do it anytime soon.
