i did cassettes for a bit but eventually took the minidisc pill and have stuck with that. way easier to make MDs and the players are so much lighter and more pleasant to carry, plus the frutiger aero retro futurism is kino

What’s the practical difference between an MD and an MP3 player (or β€œDAP”)?

i also use a dap regularly but see MD as a nice hybrid between a dap and physical media like cassette. sound quality is about on par with a 256kbps mp3 (ie, very good) and writing an 80-minute disc is as easy as drag and drop if you have a netMD player. the discs are small and light so you can easily bring 5 or 6 in your pocket, and the players themselves are cool as objects and very soulful to use. daps win on convenience of course, since you can carry a lifetime's worth of music on an sd card or two, and they have their role, but the MD is definitely more "fun"

Why are you pushing this meme so hard in here? Starting to think companies are pushing physical in this board to target the sperg market directly

Why? What a dogshit medium. Records I can understand. CDs (nutz) I can understand. Why these fragile overcomplicated shiboxes?

OP just made it up, the only physical format growing is vinyl and even that is slowing down

All the cassettes I got from the first wave of the comeback have started to warp and decay.

Service a good 3-head deck and make your own tapes. Don't buy garbage prerecorded cassettes.
