This guy did really well until image suddenly became everything in music, and people saw he looked like this. Truly tragic

steely dan and fleetwood mac at least have some teeth to them and experiment, everything else there sucks. the person who wrote that doesn't play or know anything about music

I don't disagree about Ride Like the WInd.
The rest of the album is good though.

I mean... I get he's being funny or whaterver, but the only thing that changed the older I got was I didn't GAF what people thought of music I like. Realizing you don't need to defend your tastes is really wonderful.

Hate posters and gatekeepers are insecure, nothing more.

He kept posting about having covaids in 2020 which is pretty gay in retrospect.

But yeah dude wrote some tunes

Chris is such a talented guy, he just has the misfortune of having such a smooth voice (since the stereotypes then applied to him obscure his other abilities).

Current tour with Toto sounds pretty good.

Saw him a couple of weeks ago on tour with Toto and Men at Work. He sounded fantastic. He’s self aware too. 4 songs in someone down in the pit must’ve yelled “Ride Like the Wind” and he said “have you heard of delayed gratification? Or premature ejaculation? Hang in there with us, we’ll get you there eventually.” Then he introduced it later with “alright guys, here comes the moneyshot.” Lol great show all around of course I saw some millennial faggots in their ironic yacht rock captains hats. Instead, can they do anything without treating it like fuckin Halloween? What is with that? Bastard children of brand marketing. And I could tell he was probably a straight edge emo douche back in his teen years but at some point realized his music sucked

Three incredible classics.
Sailing should probably be on a top 100 list of best songs ever made.

What happened with him specifically is for the first album Christopher Cross was a band, a group of four of them that kept playing around San Antonio since their teen years. And they play all their instrument parts on it. The label wanted Christopher as a solo artist since the beginning and wanted the other gone so they slowly forced them out by bringing in session musicians to make them redundant. For second album they played minimally and they were gone after (though he brought back one as a co-writer for all late 80s onward content)
Right when he dropped them is when MTV generation happened, and since he was a solo artist they couldn't funnel it as a band look and take focus off him, nor really have more mysterious videos and media presentations. He became the focus and since he was not the looker it quickly fell off, alongside people kind of being done with the soft rock.

>alongside people kind of being done with the soft rock
That was the other part, soft rock was a 70's thing and it didn't have any generational resurgence like metal or britpop.

The first album was magic but he could never recapture it.
