Most overrated pile of shit I've ever heard. It's just a British guy saying random shit over an instrumental that consists of hollow electronic music and xylophones. They use a fucking accordion in this album. This is like what a stupid person believes is deep and beautiful.

It isn't good. If the names behind this project weren't who they are, and you just randomly heard this on SoundCloud, you would be laughing out loud through most of the album. I couldn't believe what I was hearing listening to this shit. It's pretentious slop. Genuinely listen to this album again, and put the thought that this is THE Coil out of your head. Because it sounds stupid and ruins the atmosphere they're attempting to create. You have these cold synths and pads that make things kind of spacey but then the stupid meme instruments cut in and totally nosedive the music into being corny. Trying too hard to be weird, just like with the lyrics.

The accordion IS the atmosphere they're attempting to create on that song, it's just a slightly goofy one and you find that repulsive for some reason.
I think if you habitually recoil from 'corniness' and 'meme instruments' (or 'dated' sounds, another common complaint) there's tons of good, creative music you'll never enjoy. These are just more tools in the arsenal, not markers of quality one way or the other. The disgust doesn't come from anywhere real and can be unlearnt.

Fwiw I don't find the xylophone out of place with the spacey electronics at all, Triple Sun is probably the most conventially moody track on the album and features it heavily.

It was certainly an album that was created. It's sort of gesturing towards creativity, a stupid person's idea of profundity and beauty. This album is the musical equivalent of those laminated posters with hyper saturated paint blobs you'd see in an art class at an American highschool. Or those process focussed engagement retention art pieces where some retard records himself swinging a bucket of paint with holes in the bottom of it over a huge black canvas and makes a rainbow mess, then posts it online for thousands of views. Like shit your mom would post on Facebook. It's art-art. It doesn't really have a solid direction and isn't trying to say anything in particular. There's some themes of mortality, I guess? In a very surface level way? Is it supposed to be ironic? Is it bad on purpose?
