I could never get into these guys. I tried Disintegration, Faith, Pornography, and their greatest hits album.

Why can't it click? What am I missing?

Are you a sad boi? If not, yeah, there's not much to write home about. Maybe give Head on the Door or the new album a spin.

I like more industrial music like Nine Inch Nails, or progressive music like Tool. So I can definitely like sadder and gritty music.

The Cure just feels so... Surface level to me, like it's not really trying to say anything or lead up to something. More like something you'd put on while looking out the window of a car, nothing else.

NIN and Tool are more angsty and hate filled. The Cure is a melancholic depression, with a heap of melodrama.

Those normie bands fucking suck

I hear the cure on the radio far more than I hear NIN or Tool on the radio. Cope.

I see, I'll have to check out "Wish" like the other anon said and see if it clicks for me anymore. I liked Pornography far more than I liked disintegration, in fact I even listened to Siamese Twins a bunch.

But I don't consider liking one song liking the entire band, I need to like at least one album to really even consider myself a surface-level fan.

Hopefully it clicks, I can't force it though

I doubt there's anything on Wish that will win you over. As I said, a lot of it is music for legit depressives. Nothing quite hits like the titular song from Disintegration where you're at your lowest.

Maybe the music will come to me when I'm at a future low. Right now I'm actually at one of my highest points in life so it's hard to get into sad music.

Maybe they're just not for you? Try Have a Nice Life or the Soft Moon instead.

Great song on its own. Again I wish I could just like a whole album by them though.

I'll warn you that the drum machine at first is annoying, but then it just kind of works for the vibe on the album. Cold and mechanical. The bad unironically went downhill the moment they started using real drums.

Not really. It's just Tik Tok unfortunately discovered them. And Dan knows that his best work is behind him. The last Black Wing album acknowledges it. Plus he doesn't really want to stew in the really really personal, depressing stuff anymore, it's why he retired the Giles Corey banner. I think Dan was willing eventually retire from music. I really think he's only doing it for Tim and the Fans now

This too.
I'm bringing these two albums up because Jaz's vocals were Cure-like during this era.

i'm not the biggest Cure fan either but of their albums Seventeen Seconds and Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me were the most consistent imo
