Simply the best pop song ever made...
...if we're being totally honest.

The production, the mixing, the tempo, the vocals, are just absolutely fucking perfect.

The music video, performing at shopping malls, is incredibly iconic. All the people captured in the music video enjoying themselves, completely organic. This is probably the most nostalgic music video ever made. The entire 80s decade encapsulated on one music video.

We've all heard this song to death, hundreds of times, yet it still manages to fill a nice little spot in our hearts. This is the best pop song ever made.

Timeless classic. It was a hit in the 60s and an even bigger hit in the 80s, no doubt thanks to Tiffany's voice and her looking cute as fuck.

Tiffany [MCA, 1987]
As a commercial strategy, following a merely schlocky cover of a schlock-rock classic with the better of two schlock ballads was aces--number-one singles, double-platinum LP, what more could a svengali ask? But she's got better in her. This is a fantasy album about the growing pains of a wholesome California teen, flexing her sexuality slightly as she moons over that soulful Mexican boy, with two schlock classics of its own: "Should've Been Me," jealously obsessing on an ex-boyfriend's jacket, and "I Saw Him Standing There," which drags a rock and roll classic through the mud by its cheesy Prince-schlock synth riff. Beatlemaniacs who aren't even dead yet will roll over in their graves. I can't wait. B

What a cringe review.
Trying to dissect a teen pop star like a piece of classic literature. It's just fun, catchy teen pop music, there's no point in trying to intellectualise it.

It doesn't come off as anywhere near as stupid, trashy, or forced as this album. IDK what happened to the music industry or mass culture in general between 1987 and 2001 but it was pretty bad whatever it was.

Tiffany was naturally beautiful. Nowadays pop stars have fake tits, fake lips, fake personalities. Even Madonna was decent looking back then. Also most pop stars are older today, you don't see anymore teen heart throbs.

It's a great insight into the period where older execs could openly fantasize about sexual relationships with under age girls. I bet Jimmy Savile played this all the time

Btw, what's up with this younger generation's unhealthy obsession with pedophilia and age gaps?

Tiffany was barely sexualized at all and not exactly attractive anyway.

It's a cover song, so it kind of loses a lot of it's appeal as a GOAT song. If it was original then maybe I'd agree.

it's definitely a better version, yes, but I just don't feel a song can be considered GOAT if it's a cover song.
