Has aged pretty well. It's a bit tryhard in the lyrical department, but I enjoy it still. I listened to Dntel's other stuff and it wasn't as good. Not sure why.

idk what the critical opinion or whatever is, but I remember listening to this album on the bus ride home in 9th grade, looking out the window at someone else's neighborhood, BLASTING such great heights and wishing I was somewhere else. So I think it's great. Brand New Colony also very good.
just relistened to it a couple months ago and the nostalgia definitely holds up (any self respecting hipster in that era listened to it a hundred times) but musically it was a little weaker than I remembered. I thought it was an unambiguous 10/10 at the time but a couple of the tracks just lost some sparkle in the last 20 years and it felt more like an 8/10 in 2025
i cant stand this era of "whiny american man voice", but cant deny national anthem being a timeless song. conor oberst, sufjan etc just dont do it for me, the only exception is elliot smith from the whiny gang.
