Missed is the closest thing to a more mainstream version of slint. Legs, 50ft queenie, ecstacy, dry tons of great tracks. First 2 albums are the best

it's always dry for me, I just like the rawer edge and find the songs catchier (though I admit "down by the water" is one of her best ever songs, wish that whole album sounded like that)

Don't sweat it. Harvey's like St Vincent. She has some talent and weird girl mystique, but none of the music she's made has ever been all that interesting.

It is because she is a dyke and it creates a hostile relationship with her male audience.

Her first collab with John Parish might be my all time favorite album, can't think of anything else remotely like it.

Her last album and ITD? are my favorites of her solo work. She's got a handful of perfect albums. I love all of em except Hope Six and UHH I don't really revisit apart from a few songs.

Rid of Me. It's a work of mad genius. I love the odd song structures and near-psychotic lyricism. Albini's production elevates the songs to greatness--I've rarely heard a quiet-loud dynamic used so effectively.
Favorite songs: Rub 'Til It Bleeds, Ecstasy

Yeah, the instrumentation on that album is wild. It blows everything else that qualifies as grunge out of the fucking water.
