Changing the song's key to fit your range helps a lot. I struggle with head-voice envy. Men that sing high get more attention and interest in current styles.

Good shout. I always wondered if that's why some bands tune to Eb.
I think, learning to sing from my diaphragm, and not my throat, was probably the biggest break through I made with singing. That and realising that I'm more suited to baritone than the tenor stuff I was attempting initially.
I'm pretty much a 90s indie rock singer that does the variety of voices including yelling pretty good like pixies or pavement. I think I have a lot of soul I put into it but let's just say it's hard to find the audience that can relate to that. End of day my tone and note control is decent and I can put a ton of energy and angst more than I hear a lot of people do because they're too self conscious

I wish i could. Reliving the Oasis rebirth train and tried singing like Liam and oh man how does he manage it? No wonder his voice blew out in the 00s

My talking voice is very monotone and as bad as i am i just started singing along to playing guitar and it was mutually beneficial so if you really wish then buy a mic, record and listen back that feedback is what will really help

Shit I think my situation is worse. >have tons of musician friends most also sing >sound poor but practice singing more than anyone >get a lot better but no one ever acknowledges my improvement >10 years later I drop songs and they still act like the singing hasn't changed since the early days
I just want a bro to say, you've gotten better. At least one friend complemented my instrumental the other day
