people like you get filtered by the acclaimed albums. it's the truth. your obscure albums stay obscure for a reason and rarely have more than 3 good songs. i'd rather take a collection of 25 random 4,XX albums of RYM than some obscure contrarian stuff. though I must say all of the charts itt are at least decent

The reason why people gravitate towards "hipster/obscure" material is because of an overexposure to the popular stuff. I'm not going to go full-blown contrarian and act like the critically acclaimed stuff isn't celebrated for a reason, but at a certain point it's only natural to move past it.
Anonymous No.127439315 >>127439389 >>127445405

That's only a minor reason. The real reason is once you have listened to all the popular stuff, you start developing your own taste, and begin discovering things that are much closer to your "inner core" so to speak.

Why? I could've chosen a lesser known HUM album, or Failure, or 12Rods instead of Siamese Dream, and Ze Ramalho or Arthur Verocai instead of Clube Da Esquina, and one of the hundreds of obscure Shoegaze albums I've listened to, and maybe Polvo instead of BtS, and Mudhoney instead of Nirvana (you get the idea) BUT none of those beat the big classics. This isn't a weekly chart, it's perfectly normal to have many popular and acclaimed albums on a list like this.
