Losing the girl isn't actually the part that upset me. It was being confronted with the idea that I'm a grown man and I shouldn't be hanging around kids any more. It made me feel like I'm emotionally stunted and lacking self awareness. I feel like I genuinely did something wrong by hanging out with a high schooler when I'm closing in on 30 and the fact that I got along with him so well is testament to my lack of maturity.
