What do you think about Oasis?
What does /mu/ think of Oasis?

Oasis fever is coming back because of the reunion so here is my take I guess

Me personally, I kinda like some of their more popular songs but never really got into them because of Liam's voice, in my opinion Noel was always the better singer.

I still think Liam sounds great especially on stuff like Live Forever and Acquiesce but I just like how Noel's voice is more deeper and how he doesn't sneer it like Liam does

what do yall think?

I think liking Oasis is a great signifier that you need to listen to more music. Not having a go at you but you did ask.

I feel similar, great hits but rest of their catalogue isn't amazing

that being said, I'm debating dropping $300 to see them in Chicago next week. I've never been a massive fan, but I told myself I'd see more concerts this year and I've seen zero so far

I hope the atmosphere at Soldier is decent, I know it won't match the English dates but that's expected

OP here, I listen to a bunch of stuff from the 80s and 90s as well as some 2000's stuff. I've been more of a grunge/metal person for a long time but have been to listening to more of the rock/pop recently and decided to check Oasis out because of the reunion (idk what you would call it, just less heavier stuff like Panchiko, Placebo, etc.)

I like a few of their songs but I still much prefer other artists

OP here! Sounds pretty interesting, I knew about the whole Beatles and Oasis thing but never knew that, pretty cool to see he at took inspiration from someone as influential as John Lennon. I just wish he didn't overuse it

>"Yeah Oasis is bigger than The Beatles they are goin' mad fer it!!"

To be honest in my opinion their albums only got worse as the years went on, as well as Liam's voice, probably due to the feud with his brother Noel or maybe just age, I don't know. His voice on Dig Out Your Soul just sounds weird compared to something like Be Here Now or Morning Glory.

Once again I haven't listened to much of their discography so my choice of words is kind of limited so I don't just end up saying some bullcrap about them

I like them. Not a total fan tho. I think music would benefit from a band like them nowadays that everything is utter shit.
Also, Noel brought back the hype for the mellotron, an almost forgotten instrument that has a big part in rock history.
The sponsorship with Adidas and that parka brand was super cringe in my opinion for their comeback.
Anonymous No.127450723

OP here! Not going to lie, the Adidas collab is cool but yeah I agree it was cringe

To be honest I think the reunion is more of something they are doing for profit, I don't think they are going to record any new music or anything for a long time if at all

Also I have never heard of the mellotron but it seems like a neat little instrument. The wikipedia page also says that Radiohead used it on OK Computer, pretty wild if you ask me

Listened to about 5000 albums and they're still among my favourite bands. There's an honesty and primal force, especially in their first album, that's never been equaled.

I pity faggots like you desu. You have no taste and most likely no soul. You abandoned the shit music that you liked when you were young, and are probably embarrassed by it. You got filtered by yourself. So you have to go in search of "better music" and in the end that means you'll always be a pseud. Big brains like me, I just plugged into Oasis at age 10 and that was it. Simple as.

Oasis are very, very English. I had an English friend growing up whose parents moved to the U.S. for careers and he was a big Oasis fan. I liked Nine Inch Nails and we had gay high school wars over it. The Brits cling to that. They always prefer to keep some distance between themselves and whoever they're colonizing.

One time he eventually built up enough courage to grab some beers out of his parents' fridge and we were going to walk down to the park drinking them, which in the South is illlegal. Not the Souf, the South. It's not the same thing. His mom was like "oh dear, you can't... oh fuggit."

Gonna have to give this a run through. Imo DYKWIM is the best track and a good running album can't have the best track as an opener, should've been track 3 or 4.

An opener for a great album should be breezy/upbeat and not overly long (RnR Star or Hello/Roll With It or Black Cow on Aja or All I Want on Blue)

Maybe i'd have Stay Young as first track.

Also was thinking the same for SOTOG. Some tracks are amazing some are filler but i never liked the track listing
