Come On Die Young [Matador, 1999]
Young Glaswegians extolled by those weary of verse-chorus-verse as "radical," "beautiful," and other things that would never occur to the rest of us, they mutate the forgettable mess of their debut into something altogether more deliberate and kempt-occasionally tuneful, invariably slow. Only on the oceanbound land mass where acid house was Beatlemania would anyone sit still for such earnest post-rock tripe. C

in the late 90s hipsters were desperate for anything that seemed at least surface meaningful and wasn't Manson or Limp Bizkit that they vastly overrated snoozefests like this
>>127452782
Suck my dick bitch. I can listen snoozefest ambient, musique concrete, whatever. Post rock doesn't do anything psych or prog doesn't except it has this gay ass IDM aesthetic thing going where it thinks it's way smarter than it is.

NTA. Nah, he sounds like a moron in pretty much all of these. Super weird you'd start assuming anyone who dislikes Pissgau would like Fagtano. They're both clueless, much like people who ascribe any importance to reviewers.

That album was such a let down after Mogwai Young Team, and Rock Action was even worse. I thought they might have turned it around with My Father My King but they immediately went back to mediocre nothing dirge shite after that and never recovered.

idk why guys like Chris Ott ride so hard for CODY… the music they were making on something TEN RAPIDS absolutely fucking demolishes it.

I'm being filtered by angels versus aliens right now. this is like if Slint's Spiderland album was made by radiohead. i hope the rest of the album is better
>>127452763
Post grunge and bland radio rock is boring as fuck. In the grand scheme of 2000s rock post rock was actually cool and interesting and it kept the drooling retards away
>>127461230
Ok fair enough but I still prefer that one to the fucking 1951 thread that's up now like wtf does anyone want to listen to that ancient dusty tomber shit for?
>>127452787
i don't think mogwai was exclusively for hipsters or even if hipsters were really relevant in the 90s. mogwai were not a mainstream band at all and even for people who were into music, they were niche. i am from glasgow and mogwai fans were few and far between.

I hate marvel movies and pop punk. Here' my chart, fags. Bow before actual refined taste. I bet you guys like Radiohead, too.

GYBE, Mogwai, Tortoise, and post-rock era Swans fans are some of the dumbest retards on /mu/. I will make a small concession to say I enjoy Talk Talk and Slint was okay. Also I guess Flood is a post-rock album.

No. That's the thing all the basedbois flipping out at me don't get. I love plenty of music that is post-rock adjacent, but the second that music crosses over into the actual post-rock genre it almost invariably just sucks.

If we were just hanging out, playing songs back and forth, with a 12 pack, a bottle of whiskey, an 8 ball, 5 grams of hash, and some water, I'm sure I could change your mind with a few tracks. It's a diverse genre, and if you like instrumental music, you're bound to like some post-rock. Not talking about the crescendo core clones, obviously.

You could get me to enjoy anything on an 8 ball. But point taken. I concede that I'm taking a needlessly strong position for the sake of getting (you)s and that my actual opinions are fairly fluid.

My worst trait is refusing to listen to albums I know are fantastic purely because of their terrible covers. I'm depriving myself for no reason.

it’s mid 90s post-rock, right…. it’s pretty much DARING you to be filtered… stick with it though, it’s their earliest stuff but so raw and rewarding
