Because he stopped doing drugs by 40 and started exercising and eating well instead. He also isn't a neurotic like Lou Reed which adds years to your lifespan. Bowie just got unlucky with super cancer.

These people are ancient and haven't released anything good in years. Who cares? They're already dead to me.

Only Oz and Lem I felt a bit sad about, as they still made me laugh or came out with based comments, being more popular for their characters than their music (by that point).

Most old musicians just fade from the public eye though, some maybe keep touring but it's the same shit as before,just with some geriatric version singing it instead.
