I genuinely don't get the hate people have for this band. They've got some genuinely good songs and people like them. Is it that they look like their music should be Black Metal and it's not? Kiss did the theatrical rock gimmick first and no one seemed to mind the fact that their image didn't match up with their lyrics. Kiss had Gene Simmons spitting fake blood and acting demonic while they talk about banging sluts. How is Sleep Token any different? Or is it just that if normies like it, it's bad?

I have never listened to a single sleep token song but it's pretty obvious. Whenever you get a band that's sort of metal but not entirely the metalhead retards have an autistic meltdown about it, especially if said band is popular. There's a million shit metal bands that don't get the same hatred so being shit or not is evidently not the problem.

The guitarist from Limp Bizkit had some very strange looks and the band was super popular.

Sleep Token is just Bastille with modern metal sections in their songs.

i do. i don't like sleep token, and i don't like kiss. both posers to an irritating degree. sleep token's music is several degrees worse than kiss thoughbeit. it's more like bootleg ghost, and ghost is already dogshit with the same fake-metal-aesthetic problem

Outside of the usual "THAT'S NOT METAL" crowd? It's due to their fanbase. They are K-Pop stans/Swifties of metal. I can't think of the more insufferable fanbase than theirs. Even they themselves agree with that. Not something that is their fault (as even they dislike their stupid fanbase), but sadly... It's what it is.

For this band? No. Hate is more than deserved on every front. Their music is nothing special. Not the worst, but far from the best, and they get treated as if they are special because, like I said, bunch of underage bitches get wet over them. It's like Justin Bieber prime era, except all of these guys have far less talent, and this comes from someone who never was into JB.

Them and MIW are unironically some of the worst overrated bands in current era that I see get praised mostly due to same reason: underage bitches. Their music is ok at best, and garbage on average, yet their braindead underage fans screech as banshees when you don't praise them as the best thing that exists.

You can only take them as seriously as you'd take an autistic teenager seething over tendies. Their opinions are not reliable indicators of quality, unless you find an expert on things you like or dislike, and you can extrapolate "quality" from there. Blame their mothers for having autistic kids

Sleep Token themselves are okay at best and the 8-string with clean vocals idea needs to be explored more. They're basically pop with baritone/8 string tuning which isnt a bad idea, the logical next step from djent which was done to death 15 years ago. The stuff is bland at worst
