Self funded, not beholden to studios in a way that would compromise artistic integrity, earliest music videos with fully realized multimedia aesthetics developed internally as an extension of their artistic vision, created own electronic instruments and production techniques, musically radical and innovative, doesn't undercut the earnestness of their ideological messaging with self-debasement.
