thingken bout selling my CIJ Mustang and my Revstar, maybe one of my Strats. They’re cool guitars, just redundant with what I’ve got. I want a second Tele because those are just my favorite, or maybe an amp from Carr. It’s easy to sell gear that you don’t really care for or gear that has something you don’t like about it, but hard selling gear that you genuinely like when the only issue is too many redundant guitars. I’m running out of room for guitars and I want to consolidate some of my lower and middle tier guitars into one nicer one or one nicer amp. Cool your jets my guy. He said Janeson. You seem to be on the lookout for people "stepping", leading to hyper focus. I once got in a fist fight with a guy because I thought he was mocking me with the pattern of his blinks. Got 2 (two) years for that one. I've served a total of 8 years incarcerated. Made guitars out of popsicle sticks, laminated paper (you can get glue in prison for arts and crafts. You just glue pieces of paper together and let them dry, and repeat. Do it around a mold if you want a shape), with braided elastic for strings. He was a good friend.

Here's what I've settled on for the time being. I also have an idea of some pedals to add eventually.

In short, I want a Yamaha Pacifica 112V in Vintage white, with a humbucker sized P90 in the bridge. I also wanna try really heavy strings and get it set up by a pro.

This is my dream setup for the moment.

Good question. I have wondered that as well. I have heard people like Micheal Jackson composed with their voice. Meaning he started with notes from his voice, and built from there. That is not common as far as I can tell. A songwriter may occasionally write lyrics and chords. The songwriter is skilled in musicianship, so the rhythm, and melody (struming/vocals), can be improvised. They can chose to focus on any element and orchestrate it. But generally it can be done on the spot. And each of these approaches can be purposefully utilized to get a different outcome, be it good or bad.

I guess a better question would be how to sing in a way that fits with the music?
I'm probably overcomplicating this, I'm sure that the best singers just had an intrinsic understanding of melody and rhythm and knew how to sing that song but I don't know if I have that because I haven't made my own music yet.

Lot of songwriters seem to start with singing melodies. If you're a person who hums random tunes, then it's the same thing. A lot of frontmen know how to play guitar too, and later add a little accompaniment. They're just not shredders or like being restricted on stage.
To use one example, Danzig isn't known for guitars, but afaik he writes the basic outlines of many of his song parts. He carries a vocal recorder around and any vocal melody that comes to him will be quickly recorded. Then he'll go back to working on it and start adding basic guitar lines and fleshing out lyrics. But he has better guitarists to make it complete.
Bowie was similar, but played guitar more and came up with skeletal outlines of his songs just from strumming around. Lyric wise, he used William Burroughs' cut up method. He'd write down shit, tear up the pieces, and then rearrange lines to whatever just sounded good. Not all of it was meant to be coherent.

You have to actually practice that kind of thing. Loop a chord progression or play a backing track and hum or la la la over it. Like improv for your voice. You'll probably sound shitty at first, but it takes time. Then figure those vocal melodies out on guitar.

You'll be a lot happier with it using a humbucker guitar. Imo, it's a bit on the thin and tinny side, so a fat guitar sound won't suffer much. Marshall tube amps with a Fender sound cool, but I don't think it transfers to solid state. Probably a lot of solid state doesn't. Maybe it's all in my head.

But it seems like Bowie sang in a way that was completely different to how the melody in a song went.
Listen to Heroes for example, the pitch in the song stays the same but he ends up basically screaming emotionally towards the end of the song.
Now I'm wondering how much harmony even matters for singing in a song
Anonymous No.127499661 >>127499721

I don't know the process on Heroes. I just know he played his acoustic a lot and did the cut up method with lyrics. He didn't consider himself a great singer, but he had a naturally massive range (something like 3 and half octaves, similar to Elvis). I don't know how much thought he put into the vocal melody itself, but he could play with that range a lot.

Contemporary Telecaster. The problem is, I already paid like 100€ for this custom made pickguard and getting another one would be madness. I could get a new guitar for the amount of money I spent on this one.

I found these P90s in humbucker size. I measured the cavity in my pickguard at around 70mm. The spec says these are 70,4mm. I hope it fits and I can still adjust the height. I'm also getting a soldering set. Hopefully this won't be too difficult.

That would require another "1 time use tool", a pickguard cutter?

>>127505320
It's obviously fun to work on a guitar like this. What messes with my head is the amount of "1 time tools" I'm getting for all these jobs. I have stuff like a fret-hammer, fret file and other things I'm probably never going to use again.
I am also watching all these guitar modification videos. For example I've seen how much work it is to re-fret a guitar. I've also read that frets can get worn out and that's got me wondering if all of these modifications are worth it if the guitar is going to end up being unplayable anyway.

I know nothing about bass, so my tone sounds like absolute dogshit. What can I do to have a cleaner sound? Amp settings, pedals, EQ, anything.
I know it's quite horribly played, but the lack of skill goes unnoticed in the mix, as I'm mostly just playing the root notes.

Is there anything sub $500 dollars that's close to a tube amp that's not a tube amp? Only reason I'm going for that is being I honestly live on a shit power grid and don't want to worry about tubes getting blown. It'd really only for practice, I'd get something better for gigs if I ever make it that far.

Is this a decent beginner/midrange guitar?
I got a banged up Epi I've been using to practice, but it's not staying in tune anymore

If not a good option, what's the best entry level guitar? I want something that is versatile (able to perform decently in several genres of music) and will last me for a long while, because I'm not sure I'll ever reach the point where investing in a Fender/Gibson makes sense to me

I had an Ibanez Gio series, the GSA60. It was my first guitar.
I remember the fretwork being good, no sharp edges, no leveling issues. I didn't like the neck, it was too thin for my taste, but bear that in mind if it's important to you. The bridge was floating and I didn't like that eventually, so I blocked it off. I can't remember if I had any tuning issues, but probably not, since I reckon I'd remember it in that case. I see yours is a fixed one, so it shouldn't be an issue on that model. I remember one of the pots stopped working on mine, but my relative fixed it (no idea if he had to re-solder anything). That's the only downside I had on mine.

If you want versatility, I'd recommend an HSS guitar. I was lucky enough to pick one as my first guitar and I realized that later on.
